🌧️🚨 Flood Resilience in Action – Billiri Division

Despite the heavy rainfall, the dedicated Volunteers of Billiri Division did not let the weather stop them! 💪🏽☔ They were out in the field doing their best on Early Warning Early Action (EWEA) for flood resilience.

Gombe Branch EWEA Volunteers Conduct Early Warning Flood Awareness in Kwadom Community

On Monday, 14th July 2025, the Early Warning Early Action (EWEA) volunteers of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Gombe Branch, carried out a comprehensive flood awareness campaign in Kwadom community, under Yamaltu Deba Division.

The sensitization activities were conducted through house-to-house visits and market gatherings, where volunteers educated community members on basic flood preparedness tips. Using Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials such as illustrated posters and pictures, the team explained key early warning flood messages in clear, relatable terms.

This awareness campaign is part of ongoing efforts to enhance community resilience and preparedness ahead of the peak rainy season, ensuring vulnerable households are equipped with the knowledge needed to act early and reduce disaster risks.

Stakeholders Coordination Meeting on Flood Resilience

The Gombe Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, under the able leadership of Mr. Murtala A. Aliyu, is currently holding a Stakeholders Coordination Meeting on Flood Resilience at Abmar Event Centre, opposite the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.

This vital engagement is part of the Flood Resilience Project sponsored by the Italian Government through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The meeting brings together key stakeholders to discuss collaborative strategies aimed at strengthening community preparedness, response, and long-term resilience against flood disasters in Gombe State.

Together, we build safer and more resilient communities.
