Overconfidence in Relationship

As they always say "too much of everything is bad", and in everything we do, let's maintain moderation. Overconfidence in relationship is about being too sure or certain of the character, traits, and behaviours of your partner and your chances of achieving a successful marriage. Overconfidence can sometimes cause people to become too rigid and even dogmatic. People who are overconfident think they are always right, their way is the best, and fail to keep an open mind to learning new things. You might not always agree with people, but it's so important to listen in order to gain a new perspectives.

In relationship, many people are overconfident but they don't even know, you might also be married to an overconfident partner without knowing. Then, below are some traits of an overconfident partner;

For men:
✨ Even if I leave my wife for 10years, she can never have feelings for another man.

✨Women only need money, money and money.

✨I can keep any male visitors in my home, because no man can entice my wife.

✨My wife is not attracted to worldly things.

✨ My wife can never find any husband better than me.

For women:
✨ My husband can never marry another wife.

✨I can keep any female visitors in my home, because my husband fears God and not attracted to a woman's body.

✨My husband don't need anything else in another woman because I have front and back.

✨ I am just too perfect for my husband.

✨ My husband can never find any wife better than me.

In conclusion, relationship is all about balance, that is, balancing confidence with humility. Overconfidence can make a relationship suffer, therefore couples are encouraged to apply moderation in trust, confidence and love.

*Causes of Constant Conflict in Marriage*

As we all know that no perfect marriage, conflict is bound to happen in our marriage, and we need to be aware of the causes of constant conflicts in our relationship so as to identify an action that will likely lead to an unresolvable conflict.

Among the acts that lead to constant conflicts in marriage are: intimacy, finance, unmet expectations, lack of trust, chores, parenting, selfishness, communication, infidelity, among others.

Couples are expected to have the knowledge of conflict resolution even before the conflicts occur.

Effects of abusive marriage on the children

The sons in an abusive marriage will think it's normal to abuse, beat, have no regards and respect for his wife. Since his mother can tolerate his father, every other woman should be able to tolerate abuse.

The daughters in an abusive marriage tend to become a no nonsense wife, they have the thinking that all men are bad, finding it difficult to appreciate a true love when they see one. Most times, they’ve already prepared for divorce before getting married because they can't endure what their mother endured.

Please don't stay in an abusive marriage.

I know many would say they are enduring all the trauma and turbulence because of their children. Truly, when children are involved in marriage, it is so difficult to take the exit door. But, have you considered the mental state of those children too?

An environment where children watch their parents fight every time, use abusive words on each other, and even curse each other and their children is not safe for them. Children don't only learn what we teach them, but also watch our behaviours, actions and words, and learn from them.

Marriage should create a safe environment for all involved, the husband, wife and their children. When the marital environment becomes toxic and full of turbulence, it has no benefits for the children.

May the Lord restore peace to all homes going through difficulty.

Attitudes against a Successful Marital Life

These are attitudes or behaviours that partners in love should not exhibit. The below attitudes may ruin the marital relationship:

✨ Pride/Arrogance: In a love relationship, you should not feel you are better than your partner or having the believe that you are doing your partner a favour by marrying him/her. Feeling too proud about yourself and not giving your partner the respect he/she deserves can ruin your relationship.

✨ Holding grudges: Misunderstanding is expected to happen in any relationship because there's no perfect being. Therefore, forgiveness should be a tool to use always in your relationship. Forgive your spouse and move on. Holding grudges has no benefit than to damage yourself and your beautiful relationship.

✨ Aggression: Couples should acquire skills on effective communication. Do not go aggressive while communicating to your partner. No matter how important your words are, once you pass the information in an aggressive way, it will never yield positive effect.

✨ Distrust: There cannot be love without trust. Couples are encouraged to believe in eachother. Distrust happens whenever you start doubting your partner in actions and words. You need to stay strong and believe your partner in everything.

✨ Disconnection: In love relationship, couples are to be connected emotionally. Anytime you don't longer feel for your partner then there is trouble. You need to understand your partner's needs and wants, care and feel for him/her.

✨ Egocentrism Do not be self-centred in your marriage and do not make a decision especially the one that will affect your family based on your self interest. You shouldn't plan your life alone like you were never married. Your partner and family should feature in your plans.

In conclusion, couples who wish to have a successful and last longing marital relationship should desist from the above attributes.
