Diagnosed of a condition that can't be treated in Nigeria, a big blow on us😪. It hit us really hard

Disheartening it is that we aren't capable to foot her medical bills, hence the need to crowdfund!

She successfully underwent the first phase on 10th July 2021 that necessitated the complete removal of the hard palate and upper teeth; she is currently due for the second phase that requires two surgeries for maxillary reconstruction and dental implantation. Help Save Balikis Akande.

Akande Balikis is suffering from Mucar Mycosis Maxilla - an invasive fungal disease caused primarily by fungi, belonging to the order mucorales.

She is required to undergo two different phases of medical treatment.
The first has been done in India on the 10th of July 2021 which necessitated the complete removal of the hard palate and all the upper teeth from premolar to incissors.

Balikis is a young mother of two.
It all started as soon as she delivered her twin girls in June 2020.
Since then, she has been in several shades of pain, as Doctors diagnosed myriad complications arising from the last labor.
At first, it was heart failure due to high B.P., then Eclampsia, Hellps syndrome and liver problem were her legs and belly were swollen.
During this time, her family gathered hundreds of thousand of Naira, which the hospital insisted must be deposited before treatment commences.
The doctors treated these and it looks as if she would be finally relieved from the pain she has been suffering from, until she started complaining of mouth pain as soon as she was discharged.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. Another mouth operation was carried out but without success as the hole in her mouth deepens such that the gums and teeth decays.
Her health reveals presence of Necrotic area with devitalised tissue extending from about 2cm posterior to the incisive foramen to the soft palate on the left.
There is stripping of the palatal mucosal with bony exposure and perforation involving the junction of hard and soft palate.

The wound edges appear hyeraemic, was indurated and tender to palpation.
The associated teeth were mobile.

She was referred to an hospital in India that has the necessary competence and facility for such dental case.
The first phase has been done and she needs to undergo the second to restore her health.

Her humble family of modest income can not afford the $25,000 (N13,750,000) for the operation
