HEPATITS B & MANAGEMENT
��FACTS:
1) In 2016, 250millions were affected worldwide, only 10% were aware.
2) It attacks the liver causing acute and chronic disease.
3) Transmitted via mother to child, s*x, sharing needles and sharp instruments
4) The virus can survive outside the body for 7days
5) It can be prevented by vaccines (3 doses)
�� *SYMPTOMS*
1) Most people do not have any symptoms when newly infected.
2) Yellowness of the eyes,dark urine, abdominal pain, fatigue, nausea etc.
��RISK FACTORS
1) Unprotected s*x with infected individual (multiple s*xual partner)
2) Drug abuse,
3) Healthcare workers
4) Frequent blood transfusion
��Treatment
Diagnosis: HBsAg screening.
Acute Infection: stabilise and supportive care.
Chronic Infection:
Presence of HBsAg for at least 6months.
Antiviral drugs like Rivabirin,tenofovir etc
��Complications
1) Chronic liver disease
2) Liver Cancer
