Airdrie’s Social Needs Assessment — What we heard about mental health
As part of our 2025 Social Needs Assessment, residents shared their experiences in surveys, open houses, coffee chats, youth and senior sessions, and focus groups with equity deserving communities. Your input helps us understand what supports Airdronians rely on—and where gaps still exist.
One message stood out clearly: mental health matters.
Residents described Airdrie as a place built on compassion and belonging, but many also expressed growing concerns about accessing mental health supports when they need them.
What we heard included:
🔹Long wait times for services
🔹Limited availability of affordable supports
🔹Transportation and cost barriers
🔹Increased stress from financial pressures, caregiving responsibilities, and rapid community growth
Your voices are shaping the next steps in improving local mental health supports. Did you know that Airdrie Family and Community Support Services (Airdrie FCSS) funds a variety of preventive social programs, including those that support mental health?
