There are too many people walking about as fake versions of themselves. They cannot be themselves. They're trying to impress others. Some develop affectations and even fake accents. Some use religion to alter their personality. They begin to sound like someone else, dress like someone else, try to look like the authority figure in their lives. They become humanoid. But God doesn't want personality changed. He is particular about character reformation but he wants personality intact. God doesn't want to change your personality. It's where variety lies. There's no template for personality in scriptures. Peter was forward and many times unthinking, James and John were aggressive, Thomas was rational, Paul was a hardy intellectual pugilist. You have to be yourself. You won't develop confidence otherwise.
Confidence is not braggadocio. It is being in touch with yourself. Some seek confidence from material acquisition but that's an expensive route to follow. And those things can't deliver. You'll only increase your level of insecurity as you peddle your tinfoil.
Being your authentic self is knowing who you are, knowing the things that matter, the things that matter to you. It's about your values, your essence. You need to get in touch with yourself not just yourself. Ask critical questions: Who am I? What do I believe in? What do I stand for? And some of us need to get past our past. Some pasts produce insecurities no doubt but who doesn't have a past. Don't let the past haunt your confidence. Be your authentic self.
