Last Thursday, Our Executive Director at GHAi, Faysol Oluwakemi , had the privilege of leading the Get Healthy Africa Initiative (GHAi) team on a courtesy visit to the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, Hon. Segun Henry Omoyofunmi IBB .

Our mission was to brief him on the current stage of our ongoing youth-focused Next-Gen Health Governance Project in Ondo State. As always, we were warmly received, and he reaffirmed not only his personal support but also the commitment of the Ondo State Government to the success of this initiative.

The Next-Gen Health Governance Project, proudly supported by the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) , is designed to strengthen youth voices and participation in health governance. Through this project, we are empowering young people with knowledge, tools, and platforms to actively contribute to building a healthier, more accountable system for all.

Our Next-Gen Health Governance Fellows delivered outstanding work during the community fact-finding mission across Ondo State.

From field visits to stakeholder engagements, they gathered vital insights that will strengthen our research and shape actionable health governance recommendations.

The Next-Gen Health Governance Project is proudly supported by the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) and the project continues to amplify the voices of young leaders driving change in Nigeria’s health sector.

We’re glad to launch the second stage of the Next-Gen Health Governance Project, the Community Fact-Finding Mission.

In this phase, selected fellows will embark on field research across their respective communities to identify key challenges affecting health governance and systems, while engaging with relevant stakeholders across Ondo State.

Special appreciation to the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) for their unwavering support in empowering young leaders to drive meaningful reforms in health governance.

He explained how negotiation skills and persuasive storytelling can influence decision-makers.

Participants understood that effective advocacy is not by chance; it is by design.

In his session, Faysol Oluwakemi who is an award-winning health content creator with FRESH FM Ibadan guided participants through the steps of crafting strategies that move from passion to measurable impact. He emphasized the importance of engaging communities, building alliances, and keeping messages clear.

Public engagement, he stressed, is the lifeline of any policy advocacy effort. By the end, participants were ready to translate their ideas into concrete strategies.

At the Next-Gen Health Governance Workshop, Dr. Kehinde Adegoke took participants deep into the structure of Nigeria’s health system.

He explained the challenges, opportunities, and the critical role young leaders can play in policy advocacy.

Health governance, he stressed, must be youth-responsive, transparent, and accountable.

Through his breakdown of policy analysis, participants learned how to push for reforms that serve their communities.
