Update on Day 2 of JDS Ability Sport 2024
Today, December 5th, 2024, was an exciting day at the Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort as we continued with the JDS Ability Sport 2024. Here's a recap of the day's activities:
- 7:30 am: Participants emerged from their lodges and headed to the stadium for a day of thrilling competitions.
- 8:10 am: After warming up, participants had breakfast, and the day's activities commenced with Para Tennis and preparations for the Goalball events.
- 9:30 am: The Blind Soccer competition kicked off, with Ogbomoso facing off against Oyo. Ogbomoso emerged victorious with a 6-0 win, qualifying them for the finals. The second match saw Ibadan take on Oke Ogun, with Ibadan winning 2-1.
- 1:45 pm: The Blind Soccer competition came to a close, with Ogbomoso and Ibadan set to face each other in the finals tomorrow.
- 2:00 pm: The Para Powerlifting event took center stage, with Osewa Toyosi winning the best lift with an impressive 120kg. She will be presented with her gold medal and prize tomorrow at the final event. Ferdinard Rita secured the silver medal with a best lift of 100kg.
- 2:35 pm: The Para Powerlifting event concluded, and participants took a break for lunch and relaxation at the lodge.
- 4:30 pm: The afternoon session began with the semifinals of Para Tennis and Goalball. In the first semifinal of Para Tennis, Chika Eweren defeated Helen Onogbe 4/0, 4/0. The second semifinal saw Afuape Bisoye beat Christianah Olowolagba 4/1, 3/5, 10/3.
- In the Goalball competition, Ogbomoso won against Oyo, while Ibadan won against Oke Ogun. Both teams, Ogbomoso and Ibadan, will face each other in the finals tomorrow.
- The Wheelchair Racing event saw Olaiya Joel emerge victorious on the male side, while Kasali Grace won on the female side.
- The day's activities concluded with the Bottle Knockdown event.
