Every 28th July remains ‘The World Hepatitis Day’, IBLGH unites together under this year's theme,
“Let’s Break It Down” — a powerful call to demystify Hepatitis, dismantle the stigma and simplify access to testing, treatment, and care.

Viral Hepatitis remains a silent global epidemic.
Every 30 seconds, someone dies from a Hepatitis-related illness, even though preventable, treatable and in many cases, curable. Hepatitis B and C, in particular, affects over 350 million people globally — yet most individuals remain unaware of their status.

As the IBLGH Medical Director/C.E.O (Dr. Ime Okon), I urge all healthcare professionals, communities, and stakeholders to join forces collectively in the fight against all barriers by;
- Breaking down the silence.
- Starting the conversation.
- Raising awareness in the family, community, and national levels.
- Breaking down the myths.

Let’s make everyone aware that Hepatitis is not a death sentence. With vaccines for Hepatitis A and B, and curative treatments for Hepatitis C, we have the tools to eliminate this disease.
Let this year’s theme be more than a slogan but let it be a movement!

Together, let’s break It down, piece by piece, step by step until Hepatitis is no longer a threat to public health.

Let us act now with urgency, compassion, and with a shared commitment to health equity for all.
