A MUST READ FOR EVERY COUPLE

No Husband/wife should say any of these statements to his/her spouse:

1. You are good for nothing: This makes your spouse feel worthless and useless. You need to address issues not attacking a personality when there is conflict. Whoever and whatever you don't appreciate will depreciate and lose value before you.

2. You are getting old/too fat: Especially to a wife, it will make her feel she is not attractive again. In the process, she will begin to battle low self-esteem and insecurity. She may start thinking you are seeing someone else or you want to start being unfaithful to her.

3. My life has not been progressive since I was married to you: Your spouse will think that he or she is the source of your challenges. Don’t get overwhelmed with your challenges and start playing the blame game.

4. You are privileged to have been married to me: This is a negative privilege syndrome with pride and wrong mentality as a foundation. You should both be grateful to God and each for being married to each other.

5. My ex could have done better. This kind of statement is disrespectful to your spouse and it will make him/her feel that your mind is still with your ex.

6. Your parents did not raise you well. My parents did a good job unlike yours: This is wrong, you are disrespecting your Father and Mother-in-law.

7. Whenever I discuss any project/business with you, it doesn’t go well. You are making your spouse feel that they carry the spell of misfortune which is not right. You are not seeing your mistakes and taking responsibility for your errors instead you are pushing them onto your spouse

The list is inexhaustible, and words are powerful. Start building with your swords and stop destroying your home by your careless remarks/comments.

May the Lord help you to control your emotions and conversation with your spouse.

Say to yourself, I am a builder, not a destroyer. I will build with my words.
