K E L O I D

Keloid is a thick and raised scar that develop after trauma or injury to the skin. It usually form at the ear lobes, Cheek, Shoulder, Chest

The main cause of Keloid is not completely understood by experts but they agree that it occurs as a result of dysfunctional healing of injury

After injury or damage to the skin, collagen plays an important role in the healing process. It is a protein that is produced to replace the damaged tissue

Overproduction of collagen beyond what is needed for healing process leads to development of raised, thicken scar that result in keloid

There are several things that can increase your likelihood of this condition. Things like having black skin, family history of keloid, age between 20-30, Previous keloid formation, Bløød group (A)

To prevent keloid from happening make sure you treat your wound well, protect your skin from injury (avoiding piercing, tattoo, cuts) etc

There are so many treatment options which are surgical removal, Laser treatment, Cryotherapy (freezing with liquid Nitrogen), Corticosteroids cream, Injection

My first post of the year🙃🙃
Actually this post is almost unbelievable... but read in details.
You have ten times more bacteria cells in your body than human cells.

The human body is home to trillions of bacteria cells, which outnumber human cells by a factor of about 10 to 1. These bacteria live in all sorts of places, including your skin, gut, and mouth. Most of these bacteria are harmless, and in fact, some are even beneficial to our health.

Medical Fact for the week❤⚡
The human brain generates enough electricity to power a small light bulb. 🎉💡
The brain is a complex organ that is constantly active, even when we are asleep. This activity requires a lot of energy, and the brain's primary source of energy is glucose, which is a type of sugar.
When glucose is broken down in the brain, it produces electricity. This electricity is used to power the brain's many functions, such as thinking, feeling, and moving.
The amount of electricity produced by the brain is very small, but it is enough to power a small light bulb. This is just one of the many amazing things that our bodies can do! 🧠

A rare fact about a rare animal🔥
The axolotl is a salamander that can regenerate its limbs, organs, and even parts of its brain. This remarkable ability is due to the fact that axolotls have a high concentration of stem cells, which are cells that can divide and differentiate into different types of cells.

Tell your parents about it especially!

One important but often overlooked piece of medical advice is related to the prolonged use of over-the-counter pain relievers, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen. While these medications can be effective for managing pain and inflammation in the short term, extended and frequent use can lead to various health issues.
Advice: Limit prolonged use of over-the-counter pain relievers, especially NSAIDs.
Explanation: Long-term use of NSAIDs can be associated with an increased risk of gastrointestinal complications, including stomach ulcers, bleeding, and perforation of the stomach or intestines. Additionally, these medications may contribute to kidney problems and cardiovascular issues. It's crucial to use these drugs as directed and under the guidance of a healthcare professional. If you find yourself relying on pain relievers frequently, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the underlying cause of the pain and explore alternative management strategies. Chronic pain should be addressed comprehensively, taking into account lifestyle changes, physical therapy, and other non-pharmacological approaches to minimize reliance on medication.

The record for the world's longest hiccuping spree is held by Charles Osborne, who hiccuped continuously for 68 years! His hiccuping began in 1922 and finally stopped in 1990. While hiccups are usually temporary and harmless, this extreme case is a rare and amusing example of how the human body can sometimes exhibit unusual and unexpected behaviors.

You might have said Haew if someone mentioned just saliva to you, but..
Read this fun fact about your salivary glands!

Your Salivary Gland produces enough saliva in a lifetime to fill two swimming pools! The sight of food during hunger triggers salivary glands, leading to a sharp, sour taste.

Medical post of the week is up!
Your eye is capable of distinguishing about 10 million different colors! 🌈👁️ This remarkable feat is made possible by the numerous specialized cells in the retina, known as cones, which respond to various wavelengths of light. It's a testament to the incredible complexity and sensitivity of our visual system.

There's this small protein called "botulinum toxin," produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, is one of the most toxic substances known to humans. This toxin can cause botulism, a rare but serious illness that can lead to muscle paralysis, respiratory failure, and even death if not treated promptly. However, botulinum toxin is also used in tiny, controlled amounts for medical purposes, such as in Botox injections to temporarily reduce wrinkles and treat certain medical conditions like muscle spasms and chronic migraines. The paradox of this extremely potent toxin being used for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes is indeed a fascinating aspect of medical science.
