Halimat’s public health stories To promote the health and wellbeing of adolescents and young people with focus on health & education

Spending a couple of days in Cambridge and I’ve attended really inspiring events including the Africa Innovation Stories 🌍🌟

I love hearing homegrown success stories. They show that there is hope that African-built businesses 🌍 can grow, evolve, diversify, and compete globally without losing their roots.

It was a pleasure listening to Tosin Eniolorunda, Co-founder and Group CEO of Moniepoint, share their journey of building a business with strong pe*******on and a large customer base over the years.

It was equally important hearing Interswitch’s journey from Oremeyi Adeola Akah, showing how growth is possible with collaboration and consistent effort over time.

You can build scalable solutions by solving local problems.

Beyond the speakers, I met brilliant students across Cambridge doing fantastic work in different fields. The future is very bright 🌟

✅ Key lessons I’m taking away:
• Consistent effort compounds
• Have a clear strategy to diversify and integrate
• People matter
• Culture is what you tolerate
• Stay immersed in problems long enough to see solutions

📌 What homegrown business story inspires you and why? 💬

Showing up consistently is hard work⭐️.

As someone who works in a space where storytelling is a big part of the work, I sometimes struggle with what to share.

Ultimately, I’ve come to realize that while trying to grow your audience or followers, you must remain true to yourself and never forget your “why” and the key message you want to pass across.

When you like the niche you create in and the stories genuinely resonate with you, it helps with the fatigue that comes with posting consistently.

How do you personally decide what stories to share, when to share, and what platforms to use?

See you in the next few posts 🤍

Some days, the work looks impressive on paper.

Other days, it looks like:
– applying again
– revising manuscripts
– explaining the how’s and why’s
– choosing purpose even when progress feels slow

I’m curious. What part of the “behind-the-scenes” work do people rarely see in your work?

Over the past year, I consulted for to carry out comprehensive policy analysis and develop a policy brief on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for Adolescents and Young People Living with HIV, and Adolescents and Young People with Disabilities 🤝

Although many policies exist locally and globally to address SRHR, many local communities are not aware of them and do not know the relevant response structures, thereby undermining the fight for their rights and full policy implementation.

Co-creating solutions with rightholders and other stakeholders is critical for achieving sustainability, and all hands must be on deck to ensure full policy implementation.

Thanks to the for doing such an amazing work with the We Lead Project. It was amazing attending the close-out meeting in Abuja over the past year.

As young people, we cannot just stand on the sidelines; we have to be at the centre of decision-making and policy-making because that is one of the highest levels of change 🌍⭐️

This holds true and is still one of the principles I have held on to over the past few years of my career.

We have to take action now and start from where we are. That is when we can truly discover how high we can fly.🚀

From volunteering to leading, to learning, to running for office, just start!✨

Facilitated a Gender Based Violence (GBV) training for women this week. So eye-opening, so necessary. Listening, learning, and unlearning together. 💜✨
