Nursing School Realities

Hey fellow student nurses🥰

I just wanted to share a little motivation to get us through these long nursing school days.

Being a student nurse can be tough - endless studying, early morning clinicals, and constant pressure to perform.

But despite the challenges, we're all in this together!💯

We're learning to care for others, to make a difference in our communities, and to become the best versions of ourselves.

So let's keep pushing forward, supporting each other, and celebrating our small wins along the way!

What's your favorite nursing school memory so far? Share with me in the comments below!🫶🙂

An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that happens outside of your uterus.

ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg attaches somewhere outside the uterus.

Rare
Fewer than 100 thousand cases per year (Nigeria)

Symptoms
Requires a medical diagnosis

ECTOPIC PREGNANCY

An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants outside of the uterus, most commonly in the fallopian tube.

Ectopic pregnancies can be very dangerous, as the fertilized egg will not be able to develop properly and may cause the fallopian tube to rupture.

Symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy include va**nal bleeding, abdominal pain, and shoulder pain. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it's important to seek medical attention immediately.

Treatments for ectopic pregnancy include medication or surgery to remove the fertilized egg.

▶️HERPES

There are two main types of herpes: herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2). Both types of herpes can cause sores on or around the mouth or ge****ls.

Most people who have herpes are asymptomatic, meaning they don't have any symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they can include blisters, itching, and pain. Herpes is most often spread through direct contact with an infected person.

It's important to remember that herpes is a lifelong condition, but with the right treatment and precautions, it can be managed effectively. People with herpes can take antiviral medications to help prevent or shorten outbreaks.

In addition, practicing safe s*x, like using condoms and avoiding s*x during outbreaks, can help reduce the risk of spreading the virus to others.

There is no cure for herpes. However, there are treatments that can help manage the symptoms and reduce the risk of spreading the virus to others.

Some people with herpes choose to take daily antiviral medications to help prevent outbreaks and reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

But it's important to remember that even when you're taking medication, you can still pass the virus to others.

The best way to prevent spreading herpes is to avoid s*xual contact when you have an outbreak.

▶️ DIABETES

There are two main types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2.

With type 1 diabetes, the body doesn't produce enough insulin, which is the hormone that helps convert sugar into energy.

With type 2 diabetes, the body doesn't use insulin properly. Both types of diabetes can cause serious health problems, like heart disease, kidney damage, and blindness.

Some common symptoms of diabetes include increased thirst and urination, increased hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision.

People with diabetes may also have sores that are slow to heal, tingling or numbness in the hands or feet, and frequent yeast infections.

Symptoms can develop gradually over time, so it's important to pay attention to any changes in your body.

There are many different treatments for diabetes, depending on the type and severity of the disease.

People with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin every day, either by injection or an insulin pump.

People with type 2 diabetes can often manage their condition through diet and exercise, but some people also need medication or insulin.

In addition to medication, people with diabetes should also make healthy lifestyle choices, like eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking.

▶️HALITOSIS ( BAD BREATH OR MOUTH ODOUR)

let's talk about halitosis, which is a fancy word for bad breath! There are lots of things that can cause bad breath, from the foods we eat to certain medical conditions.

Poor dental hygiene is one of the most common causes of bad breath. Food particles can get trapped in our teeth and gums, which allows bacteria to grow and cause bad breath.

Brushing and flossing your teeth regularly can help prevent this.

Well, certain medical conditions, like acid reflux, dry mouth, and diabetes, can also cause bad breath.

Smoking is another major cause of bad breath, as well as chewing to***co and drinking lots of alcohol. Certain medications can also cause bad breath. And sometimes bad breath is simply caused by the foods we eat, like garlic and onions.

there are lots of ways to treat bad breath! In addition to brushing and flossing your teeth regularly, it's important to visit your dentist for regular cleanings and checkups.

A tongue scraper or brush can help remove bacteria from the surface of the tongue.

You can also try a mouthwash that contains chlorine dioxide or cetylpyridinium chloride, which can help reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth.

And drinking lots of water can also help keep your mouth moist and prevent bad breath.

▶️PID
Pelvic inflammatory disease

PID is a serious infection that affects the reproductive organs in women. It can be caused by bacteria, like chlamydia or gonorrhea.

The most common symptoms of PID are pain in the lower abdomen and abnormal va**nal discharge.

PID can also cause infertility and other serious problems if it's not treated. It's a serious condition that needs to be treated by a doctor.

If you're concerned that you might have PID, the best thing to do is to see your doctor for a diagnosis. They will likely do a pelvic exam and run some tests to confirm or rule out PID. They might also want to treat you with antibiotics to clear up the infection.
