Today, I honoured the invitation of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Osun State Chapter, where I presented a paper titled “The Roles of Community Pharmacists in Dental Care.”
During my presentation, I emphasized that community pharmacists are often the first point of contact for patients experiencing dental problems, as many people approach them seeking relief from pain and other dental concerns.
I made it clear that while medications can offer temporary relief, most dental conditions require hands-on clinical treatment rather than drugs alone. This highlights the importance of timely referral to a dental clinic for proper assessment, accurate diagnosis, and definitive treatment.
I also stressed that poor oral hygiene remains the leading cause of most dental problems, and preventive education plays a crucial role in reducing the burden of oral diseases.
Furthermore, I used the opportunity to introduce my dental care brand and assured the pharmacists of quality, professional care for every patient referred to Gateway Dental Care .
It was truly amazing engaging with members of the Community Pharmacists in our dear state.
