The moment I saw the picture of this mouth, I became very sad π’
This person has ignored his dental health for more than 8 to 10 years despite the excruciating pains all along.
And the cause is poor dental hygiene. I have said it several times,I will still say it again that it's not village people, and not ogun ayΓ©.
When the hygiene is poor, plaques and calculus littering the teeth surfaces, bacteria thrives more , increases exponentially, and the. Produces acids as byproducts that destroy the teeth and gums gradually.
The upper molars and lower molars are no more. But their roots are still embedded in the bone while the crown(head of the tooth) has decayed completely. In my mind right now,I am imagining the level of pain, sleepless nights and discomfort that the person would have gone through before the tooth gets decayed to this extent.
Most of the time in this situation, this kind of person will think the tooth has remove by itself because they can't see the crown again. They even argue π when they come to the clinic, it usually takes me extra effort to educate them that there are/is still the tooth roots in the bone.
A simple dental checkup, and scaling and polishing(professional teeth cleaning) would have helped to prevent this unfortunate situation π .
If this person had visited the clinic even if it's once within 10 years, the situation wouldn't have been this worse.
Now, the remaining tooth roots would have to be pulled out to prevent further damage to the jawbone and to prevent infections.
Thereafter, artificial teeth replacement would be recommended
To make this mouth functional again in a kejebu dental clinic in Nigeria of today, the bill can't be less than #500,000 depending on type of teeth replacement he/she wants.
So, Imagine spending #500,000 or more on a situation that #20,000 to #30,000 for dental visits every six months can prevent.
