Taraba State Health Services Management Board Unveils EMR4SHF and HRH Database

The Taraba State Health Services Management Board (HSMB) has officially introduced the Electronic Medical Record for Secondary Healthcare Facilities (EMR4SHF) and the Human Resource for Health (HRH) database, marking a significant step forward in strengthening healthcare delivery and management across the state.

The event was graced by key stakeholders, including the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bordiya Buma; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Chufor Harmony; and the Board Chairman of HSMB, Dr. Ebenezer Apake.

Also in attendance were representatives of AHNi, UNICEF Taraba State Field Office, and the Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research (CCCRN-THRIVE), among other partners and stakeholders who have been instrumental in supporting healthcare innovations in the state.

The launch of these systems reflects the state government’s commitment to digital transformation in healthcare, improved data management, and better planning for human resources in the health sector.

Today, the Governor of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas, commissioned a state-of-the-art dental unit of the Specialist Hospital, Jalingo, saying that the event marked a milestone in his administration’s healthcare reforms.

He assured that all departments in the state’s healthcare system would be equipped with needed facilities, well trained doctors, and skilled workers to deliver the best services to the people.

Taraba State Government Signs MoU with ARDI Pharma Limited to Establish Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant in Taraba.

As part of the administration' commitment toward transforming healthcare delivery in Taraba State, the Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ARDI Pharma Limited for the establishment of a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in the state. The agreement was today signed by His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas on behalf of the state government, is expected to enhance access to quality healthcare, create thousands of jobs, and stimulate industrial growth across the state.

Under the terms of the MoU, Taraba State Government will provide land, infrastructure, approvals, and fiscal incentives to support the project, while ARDI Pharma will design, finance, and operate the facility in compliance with global standards. The project will also prioritize local employment ensuring at least 60% of staff are from Taraba within the first three years and will support local industries by using locally sourced raw materials.

Donga, Taraba State – 06 June 2025

As part of ongoing efforts to foster peace, unity, and community support, the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Taraba State, Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma, has donated bags of rice and a cow to the Muslim community in Donga Local Government Area in celebration of the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Sallah) festival.

The donation, made on Thursday, was aimed at supporting Muslim faithful as they prepare to mark one of Islam’s most significant religious celebrations. Dr. Buma’s gesture was met with appreciation and joy by members of the community, who described it as a timely show of solidarity and compassion.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner, representatives emphasized that the donation reflects Dr. Buma’s deep respect for religious diversity and his commitment to promoting inclusive development and social harmony across Taraba State.

Dr. Buma extended his heartfelt Sallah greetings to the Muslim community in Donga and beyond, urging all citizens to continue to embrace peace, tolerance, and unity during and beyond the festive season.

In a significant step towards enhancing the fight against HIV/AIDS, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Taraba State, Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma (MBBS, FWACS), has officially launched the Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) PDX Machine at the TACA Conference Hall in Jalingo.

The launch was facilitated by the Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) under the Accelerating the Control of the HIV Epidemic in Nigeria – Cluster 1 (ACE 1) project. The CAD PDX Machine is designed to improve early diagnosis and monitoring of HIV and associated conditions, significantly strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Buma reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to combating the HIV epidemic and improving healthcare access for all citizens. He emphasized the importance of innovation, collaboration, and sustained investment in the health sector.

Representatives from AHNi, key stakeholders in public health, and healthcare professionals from across the state attended the event.

UPDATE: Health Commissioner Engages in Key Strategic Meetings

Earlier today, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Taraba State, Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma, attended the opening ceremony of a 3-day workshop on the development of the Taraba State HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan (SPP) 2025–2027. The workshop is organized by the Taraba State AIDS Control Agency (TACA) and is taking place at Diamond Classic Hotel, Jalingo.

In the same vein, Dr. Buma also participated in the State Oversight Committee meeting of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (SOC-BHCPF) held at the TACA Situation Room, Jalingo.

These engagements underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening health systems and improving the well-being of citizens across Taraba State.
