COMMENDATION FOR THE G00D GOVERNANCE

I must sincerely commend and state clearly that the performance of your government in our dear state, "Taraba State," stands on its own merits based on your following achievements.

I). SECURITY: Your administration has strengthened and improved security all across the state, making communities safe and more stable, which is the most important ( ZAMAN LAFIYA YAFI ZAMA DAN SARKI).

II). EDUCATION: Your administration demonstrated uncommon commitment to the teaching and learning education sector. (ILIMI GARKUWA DAN ADAM)

A. By Introduced free and compulsory Basic Education .
B. By increasing minimum wage for primary school teachers' salaries .
C. By paying off the outstanding (long awaiting) pension and gratuities for both primary school teachers and local Govt. Staff back to 2013, which creates a big relief to our hero (retirees) and their families.
D). Free and compulsory education for secondary school education
E). The secondary school teachers' welfare was considered.
F) Training and Re- training for the teachers' capacity building .
G). The 50% Subsidy for tuition fees at all our High Institution of learning to ensure all the children of rich and an ordinary citizen can pursue their academic dreams.
H). Settlement and approved of Taraba State University staff pension and gratuity, and other welfare

III). PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS: Your administration has also made a remarkable achievement in the state, which visible construction, renovation, and new developmental projects are ongoing, reflecting a government focused on progress .
e.g, construction of primary, secondary, and school of nurses.
* Renovation and upgraded of Danbaba Airport.
* Reviving and upgrading of Green House
* New Jalingo Abattoir, etc
* and so many to mention.

IV). HUMAN DEVELOPMENT: Your administration has strengthened the job opportunities and inclusiveness of our vibrant youth by giving them meaningful positions, roles, and opportunities in governance and maintaining the Gender Balance in giving appointments.

V) HEALTHCARE; Your administration has also made a wonderful issue on the issues of Renovation of State Specialist Hospita, renamed of EDP programmes to an Agency and provide a comprehensive range and essential Drugs for the supply to PHCC

A Bold Step Forward: Taraba Government Deepens Health Sector Reforms with IMPACT Project Intervention

In a decisive move to further reposition the health sector, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Bordiya Gbansheya Buma (MBBS, FWACS), has flagged off the distribution of medical equipment and motorcycles to Local Government Area Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) officers under the IMPACT Project.

This strategic intervention, implemented by the Taraba State Ministry of Health with support from the World Bank, is designed to deepen accountability, strengthen supervision, and ensure improved healthcare outcomes across Taraba State particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities.

The ceremony was attended by critical development partners, including Dr Onoriode Ezire, Senior Health Specialist/Task Team Lead, IMPACT Project, and Dr Amina Abdula-One, National Project Coordinator, IMPACT Project, World Bank Nigeria Office, Abuja, alongside other key stakeholders.

This milestone reflects the state government’s unwavering commitment to building a resilient, transparent, and results-driven healthcare system that prioritizes the wellbeing of every citizen.

Under focused leadership and strong partnerships, Taraba State continues to record measurable progress in strengthening primary healthcare delivery.

Moving Forward Agenda: Taraba Commissioners Inspect Ongoing Construction of Government Model Schools in Jalingo.

In line with the Moving Forward Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, Hon. Dr. Augustina, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, alongside Hon. Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma, Commissioner for Health, and other members of the State Commissiones, have undertaken an inspection tour of the ongoing construction of Government Model Schools in Jalingo and other parts of the state.

The inspection visit took place at the Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Jalingo, where the commissioners assessed the level and quality of work being executed. The visit reflects the Kefas administration’s resolve to restore standards, enforce accountability, and deliver modern educational infrastructure that will enhance teaching and learning across Taraba State.

The tour further demonstrates the administration’s commitment to ensuring that all projects under the Moving Forward Agenda are executed in line with specifications and delivered within record time for the benefit of the people.

Hon. Commissioner for Health Inspects Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Hospital, GMCN Hospital Mile Six to Ensure Quality Healthcare Delivery

In line with the Moving Forward agenda of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma, has conducted a supervisory visit to the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Hospital and the Global Methodist Church Nigeria Hospital, Mile Six.

The visit was undertaken to assess the quality of healthcare services, monitor ongoing medical interventions, and ensure that patients receive efficient, accessible, and standard-driven care in line with the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector.

Dr. Buma reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to improve service delivery across all public and mission health facilities, stressing that effective supervision remains key to achieving quality healthcare outcomes for the people of the state.

Governor Agbu Kefas Inspects Jalingo Hospitals to Provide Alternative Healthcare Services as Specialist Hospital Undergoes Renovation

Taraba State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, has inspected selected hospitals within the Jalingo metropolis as part of efforts to provide alternative healthcare facilities for residents following the temporary closure of the Taraba State Specialist Hospital.

The Governor visited the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Jaji Memorial Hospital and Maternity, Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jalingo, Our Lady Queen of Peace Hospital, and GMCN Hospital.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Agbu Kefas said the inspection was aimed at assessing the capacity of the hospitals and the range of services they can offer to the people of Taraba State, pending the completion of the renovation of the state specialist hospital.

He tasked the medical directors of the various facilities to engage with the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Buma Bodiya, to work out all necessary modalities that will ensure a coordinated and effective healthcare delivery system.

The medical directors, in their separate briefings, highlighted the strengths of their hospitals as well as the specific medical services they currently provide.

Governor Kefas also visited the Taraba State Specialist Hospital to assess the level of work carried out so far and held discussions with the Chief Medical Director of the facility.

It will be recalled that on January 9, 2026, the Taraba State Governor ordered the temporary shutdown of the specialist hospital to allow for a comprehensive upgrade of its facilities to better serve residents of the state.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉 🎉 🥳

As we step into this New Year, I give all glory to God Almighty, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who in His mercy preserved us and brought us safely into a new season.

I pray that this year will be filled with the presence of God in our lives and in Taraba State. May the Lord go before us, heal the sick, strengthen the weak, protect our families, and grant us peace on every side. May every plan of God concerning our land, our health sector, and our people be established, and may His wisdom guide all those in leadership.

I declare that this New Year shall be a year of divine health, restoration, and uncommon favor. No evil shall come near our dwellings, and the joy of the Lord shall be our strength throughout the year.

National Association Of Taraba State Medical Students (NATAMS) Health Week and National Convention

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Taraba State Government, Hon. Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma, attended the NATAMS public lecture and the official launch of the TAMED Magazine, where he served as the Special Guest of Honour.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner commended the leadership of the National Association of Taraba State Medical Students (NATAMS), under the leadership of Usman Sanusi Bakondi, for organizing such an enlightening and impactful public lecture. He emphasized the critical role of medical students in the development of the state’s health sector and reaffirmed that the administration of His Excellency, Governor Agbu Kefas, is fully committed to ensuring the retention of medical and dental graduates upon the completion of their studies.
Also speaking at the event, the Head of the Civil Service, Taraba State Government, Dr. Kara Ahmed, disclosed that arrangements are underway to ensure the prompt implementation of the bonding policy, which will enable medical students to focus and study effectively. He further announced ongoing plans to extend the bonding policy to nursing students.

Other dignitaries present at the event included the Chief Medical Director, Hospital Services Management Board, Dr. Garba Danjuma, who served as a guest speaker and delivered a lecture on Lassa Fever; the Director-General, Taraba State AIDS Control Agency (TACA), Dr. Bako Ali Istifanus; the Chief Medical Director, Specialist Hospital, Dr. Alex Maiangwa; the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care, Dr. Tukura Nyigwa; the Executive Secretary, SEMA; Honourable Member, Hajjiya Batulu; the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Taraba State; and several other distinguished guests.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health concluded by reaffirming the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to promoting and strengthening healthcare delivery across Taraba State.

Representatives of the Chamba community paid a congratulatory and goodwill visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Taraba State, Hon. Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma (MBBS, FWACS), to felicitate with him on his appointment and extend warm Christmas greetings.
