Celebrating Women's Day: Trailblazers in Science, Engineering, and Beyond.

International Women's Day, marked on March 8th, celebrates women's global achievements and advocates for gender equality. In science and engineering, women drive innovation, research, and solutions to pressing challenges.

From their activities in radioactivity, NASA's space triumphs, AI and computer vision, CRISPR gene editing, frequency-hopping foundational to Wi-Fi set enduring benchmarks.

Nigerian women excel remarkably in STEM despite barriers. Wendy Okolo, the first Black woman to earn a PhD in aerospace engineering, Professor Francisca Okeke, the first female physics professor, Dr. Adeola Olubamiji became the first Black PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, innovating in 3D printing. Professor Rita Orji leads in persuasive technology and digital health at Dalhousie University, while Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu empowers rural youth through STEM education via Edufun Technik.

These women fuel breakthroughs in health, technology, and sustainability. Initiatives like scholarships, mentorship, and policies from organizations such as NASENI, WiSE and WITIN support greater inclusion.

On this day, we honor their resilience and pledge to build equitable STEM opportunities for all.

From construction of bridges to connect locations to coming up with innovative clean energy devices in our homes and many more, engineering is moving Nigeria forward and NASENI is already delivering.

In 2025, we launched the construction of 40-hectare NASENI Solar Industrial Park in Gora (Nasarawa), scaling local production of solar components and expanding affordable clean power to communities. Our teams have rolled out solar irrigation pumps, electric tricycles and clean cookstoves, creating jobs while cutting emissions.

Today we celebrate engineers, turning ideas into impact.

Join us to advance sustainable development - one invention at a time!
