(This is the beginning of school year, secondary School was hell, but it was fun while it lasted. My name is Scarlett, Scarlett Romanus and this is my story, me and my five crazy friends. We all agreed that we will be going to the same university after secondary School, and finally here we are; Taraba State University. All the newly admitted students were trooping into the school campus, beautifully dressed and looking ready for their first semester In a higher learning institution. And here I am at the school entrance gate, waiting for my five crazy girlfriends)
Scarlett: (talking to herself) “what could be keeping this lazy girls by this time?” (as she was just done talking, saw this red Camry approaching the school entrance gate)
Vera: (was the one to drop first from the car) “Hey girlfriend!!” (said, then waved at Scarlett, but Scarlett didn’t waved back)
Scarlett: (when they finally came close to her) “What took you girls so long nah?”
Vera: “is that why, you refuse to answer me?🤨

Cassandra: (took in a deep sigh and said) “Nawaoh!! Anyways see!! Make una forget all these matter, how tomorrow lectures go be?”

(The next day, as early as 7am in the morning, the six friends were already sited at the big Lt 1C lecture hall, eagerly waiting for lecture to begin)
Vera: (there was silent everywhere, so Vera spoke up) “Are you girls sure, we are in the right hall?”🙄
Scarlett: “Of cause we are!! They said, Lt 1C!”
Cassandra: “Vera why are you in such a rush, we just got here and moreover this is just 6:30am”
Gloria: “Wait!! Are you serious?” (said to Cassandra)

(They kept mute, with dramatic music on the background. Few moments later, students began to troop into the lecture hall, lecture lasted for hours, before Class was dismissed)
(The same day, at the boy’s dormitory, Peterson, Harrison, Henry and Thomas discussing in the comfort of their room)
Harrison: “Oga!! You cannot compare Chelsea and Man City nah!🙄🙄
Thomas: “Why not? See!! Even though I am not a Man City fan, Man City still strong pass Chelsea!”😒
Henry: “I agree!! In times of goals and football self”

(Scarlett was walking towards the counter and pressing her phone, when she bumps onto Peterson, who already make his orders, overthrowing his plate of food and her phone also fell down)

Scarlett: (was busy apologizing) “Am so sorry, please let’s go, so you can make new order , bills on me😩”

Cause there are some problems only God can solve them. Well!! I also forgot to ask that the same question some years ago, and that left me in a very terrible circumstance….]
[Jason just woke up from the bed, checked his phone clock, then drop from the bed and rush into the bathroom…few moments later, he was dressed, picked up his phone from the side wardrobe; then picked his briefcase from the bed and went out….he came to the living room and found his mom, sitting and getting ready to start the morning devotion…]
Jason: [looked at her, shake his head] “Good morning mother”
Adela: [who was tieing her headtie took her head up] “Ehen!! Good morning son!! How was your night?”
Jason: “It was fine mom and yours?”
Adela: “It was fine, am about to start the morning devotion”
Jason: “Okay!!! Good luck with that” [he said, then started heading for the dining room]
Adela: [asked] “Ain’t you joining me?”
Jason: “Not today mother, am already late for work”
Adela: “That’s what you keep saying everyday, what is happening”

Adela: “Son!! It’s late and you haven’t returned home yet”
Jason: “Yeah!!! I still got a little work here, I have to round up, but I’ll be coming home soon”
Adela: “Okay!! Should I just pray or I should wait for you”
Jason: “Eh!! I think you should just pray, cause am still working”

(There was a little silence, then Brian sight Olivia passing and pressing her phone)

(Olivia made nor comment)
Thompson: "I am asking you and you are not saying anything"
Olivia: "What do you want me to say? I have already told you, what I want, but you don't want to give it to me"
Thompson: "Acting?? Olivia acting!!! Are you really my child? Did I give birth to you?? So you want to go and naked yourself on set and show your nakedness to the entire world right?'
Olivia: " But dad!! There are lot of decent movie industries today and not all movies are indecent"
Thompson: (sounding more aggressive) "Would you shut up!! I am your father!! I have seen the movie industry go rogue in countless movie!! So none of my daughters is joining the movie industry, and if you want to proof stubborn, you are leaving this house; nonsense. Now, get out of my sight, get out!!!!" (His voice was so loud, that Felicia and Samantha had to run out from the kitchen to come what was happening. Upon getting there, they saw Olivia angrily going upstairs, Thompson stood there, looking at her and panting heavily)

Olivia: (who was sitting on the bed, spoke up) "Mom!! If you are here to talk about what happened earlier, I am not in the mood"
Felicia: (Took in a deep sigh, came n sat down next to Olivia) "But you know, you shouldn't have responded your father"
Olivia: "Mom!! I only told him, the truth, which he refuses to accept"
Felicia: "What truth is that?"
Olivia: "I want to become an actress mom!"

Olivia: "Then why is it so hard for him to understand that, that is what I want"

[In life, everybody have something the fear the most, it could be someone, something or a decision. Well!! For me, what I feared the most was myself. Secondly, mistakes are bonds to happen in once life, and I have committed lot of that, and sometimes I feel like I can not do anything to correct them. One of the biggest mistake of my life that got almost everyone talking, including my immediate family was dropping out of school. But to me, it wasn't a mistake, cause I never wanted to study maths, logarithm or equations, I wanted to be an actress, but my family objected]
(In the morning, all the remaining members of the family were already sitted at the dining table, except Olivia, who was still in her room, her mom decided to go check on her)
Felicia: (came knocking on the door)
Olivia: (Responded) "Come in, the door is open!"
Felicia: (Opened the door and went in)
Olivia: (when she saw her mom, she sat up on the bed) "Good morning mom!"
Felicia: "Good morning Angel!! How was your night?"
Olivia: "Boring as always!"

Olivia: (stopped pressing her phone, raised her head and look at Samantha) "I don't know how wanting to become an actress is tearing this home apart?"
Samantha: "Really?? Really?? If your illiterate mind can not tell you, let me tell you, your father and mother almost fought at the dining table"

Chapter Two
[Early in the morning, the next day, James dressed up and was about leaving the house; when his younger sister ran after him]
Paulina: "brother!! Brother!!! [Calling out to him]
James: [stopped and turned] " Yes Paulina, what is the problem? "
Paulina: "good morning brother!! And where are you going to?"
James: "Good morning Paulina, as you can see, I am going out" [said copying her]
Paulina: "Okay brother!! But why don't you wait eat before leaving, cause breakfast would soon be served"
James: "No!! No!! I will eat when I come back"
Paulina: "Are you sure?"
James: "Yes i am!! Is mom up already?"
Paulina: "No!! She is not"
James: "Okay!! Tell her, I went to greet uncle Nickson; when she wakes up okay!"
Paulina: "Okay!! And brother don't stay out to long oh"
James: "I won't" [He's said, then continued his journey, while Paulina went back into the house]
[At Mr. Nickson house, he was busy at the backyard, when James arrived using his mouth to announce his arrival]
James: "Excuse Me!!! Is anybody home?"
Nickson: [Answered from the backyard] "Give me a minute please!!!"
James: "Okay sir!!" [He said, then find a chair and sat down]
[Few minutes later, Nickson joined him infront of the house]
James: [when he saw him coming, stood up as a sign of respect] "Good morning Uncle!"
Nickson: "Ah!!! Ah!!! James my son, when did you come back?"
James: [Laughed] "I came back yesterday uncle"
Nickson: "Ehyaa!! How was the journey?"
James: "The Journey was fine sir"
Nickson: "Please sit down, let me offer you something to drink"
James: "Ah!!! No uncle!! I just came to greet you and see how you are doing"
Nickson: "Hmmmm!! I am doing very fine my son!! How are your siblings and your mother?"
James: "they are all fine uncle, where is mama and Rachel?"
Nickson: "They went to cultivate my farmland near the King's palace"
James: "Ah!! Okay, I will be on my way now"
Nickson: "Ah!! Ah!! So soon?"
James: "Yes uncle!! But don't worry!! I will come back to you again specially"
Nickson: "Okay!! My regards to your mother"
James: "She will hear uncle!!!" [He said, before making his way out of the compound]
[The same day, James and his friend David were walking and discussing]
David: "Guy!!! You have completely change oh!!!"
James: "No de flatter me abeg!!"
David: "Omo!! No be flatter oh!!! All these village girls go just de rush you now!!"
James: [Laughed] "Abeg!! Abeg!!"
David: "Look at this one oh, so you think I am joking abi?"
James: "I didn't say that nah!"
David: "Better!! So what is your plan now that you are back?"
James: "Yeah!!! I want to do some community pet project, then finally get married and settle down"
David: "Seriously, you get good plans oh!! But do you have any girl in mind?"
James: "I have gotten none yet sha!"
David: "See!! We get fine fine girls for this community oh!!! But dem to like money"
James: "Ehen???" [Asked surprisingly]
David: "I'm telling you, so in choosing your bride, make sure say, you shine your eye wella"
James: [Smiled] "Okay nah!!! I don't hear you"
David: "Ehen!!!!"
James: "And talking about community pet project, what do you think I should do?"
David: [think for a while and said] "Eh!! I think borehole"
James: "Why borehole?"
David: "Omo!!! We nor get good drinking water for this community, and the only available river is in a remote place and very dangerous at night"
James: "Okay!!! I will call my supervisor later and tell him the chamges in plan"
David: "Okay nah!!"
[As they were still walking, they heard voices and screaming, and it seem to be coming from a distance]
James: [stopped and also stopped David]
David: "What?"
James: "Are you not hearing that noise?"
David: [Put out his ears to listen also] "Yes!! I can hear"
James: "I think, something is wrong?"
David: "I think so too, but where is it coming from?"
James: "I think, it is at the front" [He said, then starts running toward the direction and David ran after him]

[At Mr. James family compound, James just came back from the united states if America, where he finished his Masters degree in bio-chemistry. His entire family were all waiting outside eagerly for his return. Few moments later, the family car drove into the house with James comfortably sited at the back sit]
[Mr. James, came down from the car, hugging everyone, starting from his mother, down to his younger sister Paulina. In the living room, everyone was sited, James was sitting next to his mother]
Mrs. Maryann: "So my son!!"
James: "Yes mom!"
Maryann: "How's life overseas!"
James: "better then Nigeria oh!! I wished I never had to come back"
Agnes: [his elder sister, picked up the conversation] "Look at this one, you can start going back nah"
Paulina: "Ah Ah!!! Sister he was just joking nah"
James: "Leave her joor!! It is because she miss me, that's why she is behaving like this"
Agnes: "In your wildest dreams"
Lucky: "Sister!!! You and shakara!! Where you not the one, who has been disturbing us on the phone yesterday!"
[Everyone burst into laughter]
Agnes: [Amidst her laughter] "Look at this one oh, when did you start sticking your mouth into adults conversation"
Lucky: "But big sis!! This is a family conversation nah"
Agnes: [stood up and knock him]
Lucky: "Ah!! Mommy shey you see big sis"
Maryann: "Agnes!! Don't beat my last child again"
Agnes: "Then warn him to stop looking for my trouble"
Maryann: "I have warned you!"
James: [who was laughing the whole time, spoke up] "Mom!! Hope there is food in this house, cause I am so famished"
Maryann: "Of cause my son!! As a matter of fact, your favourite"
James: "Then!! What are we waiting for? Lets start going to the dinning table"
Lucky: "Finally!! Some good news"
Agnes: [beat Lucky again] "You and food!"
Lucky: "Mommy!! Shey you've seen again"
Maryann: [beats Agnes]
Agnes: "Ah!! Ah!! Mommy what for nah?"
Maryann: "For beating my last son"
[Lucky teases Agnes]
Agnes: "Don't worry, day of reckoning is coming"
[The family made their way to the dinning table and food was served]
[Evening of the same day, the rest of the family members were already sleeping, but James and his mom were in the living room discussing]
Maryann: "My son!!"
James: "Yes mom!"
Maryann: "Do you know why I kept you up by this time?"
James: "I'm equally surprise myself mom"
Maryann: "Okay!! I kept you up, so we can have mommy and son's chat"
James: [balanced himself on the couch] "Okay mom!! Am all ears"
Maryann: "My son!! I am really bothered!"
James: "Bothered?" [He asked]
Maryann: "Yes son!!"
James: "Bothered about what mom?"
Maryann: "I am bothered that I may not see my grandchildren before I die"
James: "Ah!! Ah!! Mom why would you talk like that?"
Maryann: "Of cause son!! Look at your sister, she has blindly refuse to get married, she has also turned down every suitor who asked her hand in marriage"
James: "But did you require from her, what the problem is?"
Maryann: "Yes I did!! But you know how stubborn your sister is?"
James: [Took in a deep breath] "So!!! What do you want to do now?"
Maryann: "I want you to get married!"
James: [Looking surprisingly at his mom] "Are you serious?"
Maryann: "Of cause I am son"
James: "But mom!! Don't you think, it is too sudden?"
Maryann: "No!! It is not and moreover times waits for no one"
James: "Okay mom!! Even if I want to marry, I don't have any particular girl in mind"
Maryann: "Son!! That shouldn't be your problem!! We have lot of beautiful girls in this community"
James: "But I haven't seen them" [pulling her legs]
Maryann: "If you have not seen them, then let me make the choice for you"
James: "Oh no mom!! Come on, I was just pulling your legs, and you know I have barely set foot out of this house, since I came back"
Maryann: "Oho!! I was beginning to wonder"
James: [said smiling] "Mom!! Don't worry, if I see a woman I want to marry, I will bring her home"
Maryann: "You promised?"
James: "I promised mom"
Maryann: "Ehen!!! Now I am happy"
James: "You are happy abi?"
Maryann: "Of cause son!! At least I would see my grandchildren before I die"
James: "Okay mom!! Since you are happy now, can I retire to my room?"
Maryann: "Of cause son!! I would see you in the morning"
James: [Stood up] "OK goodnight mom!"
Maryann: "Goodnight son!"
[James retired to his room, Maryann balanced herself on the couch smiling, saying nothing]
