UNDERSTANDING THE ANATOMY OF THE URETHRA, VA**NA AND A**S. ✍️
When I was younger, I found it difficult to know the difference between the va**na and the urethra. I used to think my monthly period flowed out of my urethra, while my va**na is preserved till I am ready to have s*x and give birth.
During teenage hood, I understood that the va**na and the urethra are totally different organs. In nursing school, I realized the urethra is a part of both the renal system and the female reproductive system.
Millennial do not know the difference between the urethra and the va**na, this is one of the reason I ask young ladies to sit before a mirror while trying to read a post like this.
In understanding the female reproductive system, you need to know that the reproductive system is in two classifications. The external which is called the v***a and the internal.
The v***a is the external part of the reproductive system. The v***a is a general name, and I address the v***a as the family house for ge****ls.
On the v***a, there are lips like structure organ, called the l***a, and the cl****is. Below the cl****is is the urethra located, and right below the urethra is the va**na.
- The urethra
The urethra is about 4-6cm long, it is a tube that runs from the bladder neck to open into an external hole. The location of the urethra is the top of the va**nal opening. The v***a is a part of the renal system which is responsible for producing, storing and eliminating liquid waste. Because the female urethra is shorter than the male urethra, women have a higher chance to develop UTI (you can read my previous post to know more about UTI)
- The va**na
The va**na is a muscular tube of about 6-7.5cm long and it is connected to the uterus. The functions of the va**na are copulation, allowing menstrual blood to leave the body and giving birth. The va**na is elastic in nature, which is why it increases in size during childbirth and returns back to its original size.
