Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a disabling and life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus.
Most people don't have any visible symptoms except a flu like symptoms like Sore throat, fever, tiredness, nausea, headache, stomach pain. However a few number may present with;
1. Meningitis (infection of the covering of the spinal cord and/or brain)
2. Paralysis (can’t move parts of the body) or weakness in the arms, legs.
Poliovirus is very contagious and spreads through person-to-person contact.
(Contact with the f***s (p**p) of an infected person droplets from a sneeze or cough of an infected person.
Prevention is majorly by vaccination.
Ensure your child and children around you are vaccinated.
