PLASCHEMA HOLDS 2 DAYS TRAINING FOR COMMUNICATION FOR DEVELOPMENT UNIT, C4D, ON INTERNAL COMMUNICATION FOR STRONGER HEALTH INSURANCE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE, AND BUILDING EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENT AND RESILIENT HEALTH COMMUNICATION LEADERS FOR EFFECTIVE HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE IN PLATEAU STATE
The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has engaged in a 2 days strategic training for the Staff of the Communication for Development Unit, C4D, of the Agency on "Internal Communication For Stronger Health Insurance System Performance" and "Building Emotional Intelligent and Resilient Health Communication Leaders for Effective Health Insurance Coverage in Plateau State", primarily to bridge the gap in both internal and external communication of the Agency's engagement with clients and prospective enrolees.
The training, held on Monday, 16th March and Tuesday 17th at the Agency's Conference Room, brought together the Director-General, Director of Human Resources and Administration, Staff of the Communication for Development Unit, few Members of Staff from Marketing & Business Development Department, Human Resources and Administration Department, as well as few others Staff Members from the Department of Operations and ICT.
In his welcome remarks, the Director-General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, described the training as timely and strategic, noting that no meaningful development can be achieved without sound internal communication. He observed that the Communication for Development Unit of PLASCHEMA plays a critical role in shaping the public perception, managing health information and strengthening trust between clients and the Agency as a whole.
The Director-General reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to enhancing an effective internal and external communication model that ensures clarity of purpose, operational efficiency and accountability. He noted that communication gaps can result in delays in policy implementation as well as, reduced the level of thrust between the general public and the Agency, pointing out that the training is aimed at strengthening internal communication systems within the Agency as well as external communication systems to improve overall health system performance and support the Agency in achieving its vision and mission.
While highlighting the basis behind the training, the Director of Human Resources and Administration of PLASCHEMA, Mrs. Ruth Fada, noted that sound internal communication and emotional intelligence in an organisation enhances productivity and growth. She stressed that the two concepts are "sine qua non", particularly in relation to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of an organisation, PLASCHEMA inclusive.
“This training provides a platform for Staff to contribute to the development of the Agency, in a way that will enhance productivity, through knowing the communication gaps that exist between the general public and the Agency,” she stated.
Academicians of high repute and credentials were brought on board as the resource persons for the training; which has Ass. Prof. Leman Sunday Francis, HOD Mass Communication Dept. University of Jos, who gave an elaborative discussion on "Internal Communication for Stronger Health Insurance System Performance", as well as Mr. Jwanji Moses Stephen, from the Department of Information Science, University of Jos, who contributed on "Building Emotional Intelligent and Resilient Health Communication Leaders for Effective Health Insurance Coverage in Plateau State".
The objective of the training is not merely to discuss Internal Communication and Emotional Intelligent, but to develop a structured, responsible, and forward-looking regulatory framework that will bridge the gaps of communication between PLASCHEMA and the general public, going forward.
Staff should at the end of the training, be able to examine the major gaps in internal communication and how it can be worked upon, explore various options to the Agency as a roadmap, and collaboratively develop a draft that will propel growth and development in dealing with external bodies.
