my life as a Nigerian,
a while back I got a job offer on LinkedIn, where I was offer a position, but my employer ceased all form of communication with me the moment he found out what county I was from, at first I thought it was some kind of mistake or I wasn't even fit for the position, but then I got another offer shortly after and all conversation ended the moment my nationality was brought up, well the say third time is a charm, now this time my employer went as fa as to commend my works and only for him to cut me off the moment I typed the words "am a Nigerian". imagine my disbelief, wow so now I can't even get a job offer because of my nationality, and mostly because of the misconception that Nigerians are scammers. hmmmm
so I decided to try other options you know to find myself a better opportunity, and I can't even begin to mention the countless opportunities that I lost because those opportunities are not available or even accessable to me because am a Nigerian wow, not just a Nigerian, but a Nigerian that comes from a low income family.
the question is how do you Begin to blame the outside world when the very people we have as leaders are the biggest yahoo scammers of all times, the lie, steal and cheat their way into position of power only for them to embezzle public funds for themselves and their families, leaving us the ordinary Nigerian to carry the cross of stigmatization. hmmmm
what it means to be a Nigerian,
your life is ended, and your properties destroyed, your children turned orphans and grow up in IDP's, and they people who commit these violent crimes are released and tagged as hoodlums by the government of the day to safe face and they real destroyers of life are set lose to continue their lives of destruction.
for a country who'se first language is English, and English tagged one of the most require courses in other for it's citizens to gain higher education has it citizens write an English test to prove they can speak English before other countries grant their citizens permission to study/work hmmmm my life as a Nigerian
a country where the ordinary citizens can bearly boast of feeding twice a day because of the economic hardship and the constant crisis dose nothing but destroy whatever hope for the future, most Nigerians just live to survive, or as a friend will put it survive to live.
