NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA NURSES AND MIDWIVES, PLATEAU STATE COUNCIL, PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO PROFESSOR ICHA INALEGWU ONCHE, MEDICAL DIRECTOR, NATIONAL ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL, JOS

In a gesture of professional solidarity and institutional goodwill, the Plateau State leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Plateau State Chapter today paid a courtesy visit to Professor Icha Inalegwu Onche, Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jos.
The State Chairperson of NANNM, Comrade Briskila Dabit, said they were at the hospital to identify with the hospital as well as the MD, management, and staff of the hospital. The visit was also used as an avenue to engage in a frank and forward-looking dialogue on shared concerns affecting the nursing profession, the healthcare system in Plateau State, and areas of potential collaboration between the association and the hospital’s leadership.
Comrade Briskila commended Professor Onche for his exemplary leadership and the strides made under his administration toward improving healthcare delivery and creating an enabling environment for nursing professionals to thrive. She expressed the Council’s readiness to work in synergy with the hospital to promote continuous professional development and enhance service standards.
In his remarks, Professor Onche warmly welcomed the delegation and appreciated their thoughtful gesture. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that elevate the role of nurses and midwives, not only within the hospital but across the broader healthcare sector in Nigeria. He noted that nurses remain critical to achieving patient-centered, compassionate care and encouraged the Council to continue championing professionalism, ethics, and innovation in practice.
The Medical Director was joined by Mr. Gideon Nchoka Adamu, Director of Administration, and Dr. David Wujika Ngwan, Director of Clinical Service. The NAANM delegation was led by Comrade Briskila D. Dabit, Chairperson of the Plateau State Council of NANNM. She was accompanied by other key executives: Victoria Dalyop (Treasurer), Amos B. Agwom (Financial Secretary), Rifkatu D. Danye (Auditor II), and Happy A. Daniel (Secretary).
The engagement concluded with mutual expressions of hope for continued collaboration in strengthening the healthcare system, advancing staff welfare, and building trust between leadership and frontline professionals.
