*The dangerous power of winds*
High winds typically come with severe weather like thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes but they can also come ahead of or behind, cold fronts when air pressure changes.
About 70% of all damages are caused by severe thunderstorm winds.
Winds can do damage if they are 20km/h and above, which happens more often during rainy season.
They can pull down trees, cause widespread power outages, rip off roofs and flip Mobile homes.
*Safety tips*
1. If you get a high wind watch or warning, it is a good idea to bring in anything from outside that is not tied down.
2. Have any tree or branches on your property removed that look like they could fall
3. If you live in a mobile home, make sure it's secured to the ground or consider vacating until the threat has passed.
4. When driving, slow down and watch for cars in adjacent lanes as winds could push them into your lane. High profile vehicles like vans are especially vulnerable to flipping in high winds.
5. If you feel you are losing control when driving, pull over; away
from power lines and trees until the wind dies down.
Ignorance is not an excuse.
Your safety is our concern.
Have a wonderful day ahead.
