*Men of Honour: A Fellowship of Christian Husbands Committed to Marital Excellence*
*Who We Are*
Men of Honour is an interdenominational fellowship of Christian married men who are united by a shared commitment to embodying Christ's love in their marriages. Inspired by the biblical principle that Christ loved the Church despite its imperfections (Romans 5:8), these men pledge to love and honor their wives, recognizing and embracing their roles as husbands in accordance with scriptural teachings.
*Our Belief*
Our vision is rooted in the belief that husbands are called to dwell with their wives with understanding, honoring them as partners in the grace of life (1 Peter 3:7). We recognize that marriage is a divine institution, designed to reflect the relationship between God and the Church. Therefore, we strive to love our wives sacrificially, as Christ loved the Church, and to maintain a harmonious marital relationship that facilitates our communion with God.
*The Story Behind Our Vision*
The vision for Men of Honour was born out of a transformative personal experience of our founder. After an intense marital conflict, he felt God's intervention guiding him away from retaliation and towards forgiveness. This spiritual encounter opened his eyes to the profound significance of marriage as a reflection of God's unconditional love for His people. It was a call to become a Man of Honour, one who praises and cherishes his wife, recognizing her strengths and gracefully accepting her imperfections, much like the husband of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31:23.
*Our Mission*
Men of Honour's mission is to gather like-minded men to stand as pillars of integrity and wisdom at the city gates, as described in Proverbs. We aim to mentor younger men, guiding them to fulfill their roles as godly husbands and fathers, to revel in the joys of marriage, and to reduce the incidence of divorce within the Christian community (Malachi 2:16).
*Our Aim*
We are dedicated to living out the principles of Ephesians 5:25-31, loving our wives as Christ loved the Church, without waiting for the conditions of Ephesians 5:22-24 to be met. Our love is proactive, unconditional, and selfless.
*Specific Objectives*
- To focus on personal transformation rather than seeking to change our spouses.
- To prioritize peace and accept responsibility even when it is easier to blame.
- To address and provide solutions to challenges specific to both women and men.
- To encourage and support men in their roles as providers and spiritual leaders.
- To mentor the next generation of husbands and fathers in the ways of honour and integrity.
*Mode of Operation*
Men of Honour operates through a structured assembly system, starting with a group of Pioneers selected by the Visioneer. These Pioneers invite others to form the first assembly, which then is expected to expand to subsequent assemblies, spreading the vision globally.
*Plenary Sessions*
Our assemblies meet in a legislative format, creating bylaws that align with biblical principles to guide the conduct of our members. Each member is honored as an "Honourable member," and decisions made in plenary sessions are binding. Our Plenary meetings began in November 2017 two weeks after the vision was birth and we meet by 6am every Saturday till date at JV & B opposite Delicia eatery in Sabo here.
*Spiritual Meetings and Retreats*
We hold spiritual meetings to renew our strength and commitment to God and our wives. Retreats offer a time for rededication and alignment with God's purpose for our marriages.
*Marriage Maintenance and Consultation Conference (MCMC)*
The MCMC is an opportunity for couples to engage, exchange ideas, learn, and seek solutions to marital challenges. It serves as a platform for research and development of new strategies to strengthen marriages.
*Ceremonial Meetings*
These meetings are practical expressions of our learning, where husbands demonstrate their love and commitment to their wives through various celebratory events, including wedding anniversaries, queens' banquets, and marriage feasts.
Men of Honour is more than just a fellowship; it is a movement of transformation, where men are called to rise to the noble calling of being godly husbands, reflecting the love of Christ in their marriages and beyond.
