WORLD DIABETES DAY
Diabetes can lead to several complications if not properly managed like eye problems, kidney problems, limb amputation, heart disease and others.
There are 3 types of Diabetes mellitus:

🔹Type 2
🔹 Gestational diabetes.
The most common is Type 2 and in many cases, its complication can be delayed or prevented by adopting and maintaining healthy habits.
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin to keep the blood sugar within a healthy range. The main cause is 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 which happens when the body cells don't respond to insulin as they should and the pancreas cannot make enough insulin to overcome it.
☘️RISK FACTORS
You're at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes if you
✔️ Have a family history of Type 2 diabetes (biological parents or siblings)
✔️ Are older than 45 years old
✔️ Are overweight and obese
✔️ Had gestational diabetes when pregnant
✔️ Have high blood
Pressure or high cholesterol
✔️ Are physically inactive for a long time and consumes highly processed foods
☘️ TREATMENT
Management of Type 2 diabetes includes:
✨Healthy eating and lifestyle modification
✨ Regular exercise
✨Weight loss
✨ Diabetes medication or insulin therapy
✨Blood sugar monitoring
☘️ PREVENTION
Type 2 diabetes is largely preventable by taking several simple steps:
✨ keeping weight under control
✨exercising more and eating a healthy diet
✨Not smoking
✨cutting down sugars and processed foods
✨Drinking water.
