Prostate Health: What You Need to Know

The prostate sits below your bladder. As you age, it grows. By 50, half of all men show signs of enlargement.

Watch for these symptoms: frequent urination at night, weak urine flow, pain or burning when urinating, blood in urine or semen, and pelvic or lower back pain. These do not always mean cancer. BPH and prostatitis are common and treatable. But ignoring symptoms delays care.

Start screening conversations with your doctor at 50. If you are Black or have a family history of prostate cancer, start at 40 to 45. Expect a PSA blood test and physical exam.

You control more than you think. Eat less processed food and red meat. Exercise. Maintain a healthy weight. Limit alcohol.

Prostate cancer caught early has a survival rate above 99%. Act early. A conversation with your doctor takes minutes.
