Dear brothers and sisters, if you knew today that you would die in a few hours, what would you do? How would you spend your time? What would your salah look like? How would you make dua? How much Quran would you read? Every single second would count.

Our clocks are ticking and every moment matters. Acting before it is too late is a principle in our religion. Allah says in Surah An-nisa:

_“Allah accepts the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and then repent soon after. It is they to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness.”_

Would you like to be a slave of Allah who is guided to hasten to repent after every sin until you meet Allah having sincerely repented? One who is at ease and content with the decree of Allah and one who sees acts of worship as an honour, one who Allah makes it easy for, who approaches worship full of enthusiasm.

If you would like to know one simple step you can take that requires little effort and no physical exertion to help you achieve this, ponder over the following statement.

Some of the great scholars mentioned, “Whomsoever is consistent in remembering death they will be honoured with three things:

1. The hastening of repentance
2. Contentment in all their affairs
3. Enthusiasm towards and during acts of worship

To be honoured with these three things is something one should truly strive for. To be a person who feels remorse for disobeying their Lord who has been so kind to them and granted them countless blessings, so they hasten to repent and avoid becoming among those who Allah says about them:

*“Until, when death comes to one of them, he says:* _‘My Lord, send me back, so that I may do righteousness in what I left behind.’_
But never! It is only a word he is saying…”

To be a person who is at ease and content with whatever Allah has decreed. Someone who may not possess much wealth, who may face trial after trial, yet still falls under the words of the Prophet ﷺ:
*"Be content with what Allah has given you and you will be the richest of people."* [Sunan Ibn Majah]

And lastly, to be a person who rushes towards righteous deeds with passion and eagerness. One who finds joy and comfort in acts of worship. One who sees worship as their safe haven in this fleeting world. One who falls under the description Allah gives in the Quran:
_"...and among them are those who are foremost in good deeds, by the permission of Allah..."_

Remember death often, and you will be honoured with these three things. May Allah make us among those whom He honours, may He facilitate all goodness for us, and may He fill our hearts with abundant love for Him. Ameen.
