Physio what-now?🧐
Welcome to PhysioInfo!
I'll be introducing us all to the amazing world of physiotherapy!
Physiotherapy also known as Physical therapy is a healthcare profession that assesses, diagnoses, treats, and works to prevent disease and disability through physical means.
Some folks say that physiotherapy is exercise based, well they are kinda right!
Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future. It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient directly in their own care.
Physiotherapy is a drug-free treatment option but encompasses other treatment methods such as heat therapy, exercises, electrotherapy, patient education, and advice for treating an injury, ailment, or deformity. Certainly, a patient may participate in physiotherapy while on medications, but physiotherapists use drug-free, exercise-based remedies to treat a person’s ailments.
Physiotherapy can help someone feel better mentally, emotionally, physically, and increase their social functioning. An abstract published by Inlfuent said, “Strong evidence supports the positive and generalized role of physical activity/exercise to improve pain, mind (emotions and cognitions), movement, and social function.”
All this splendid work is done by the skillful Physiotherapists - a round of applause please!
