MY HERBALISM JOURNEY – PART 10

After making that quiet promise to myself…
my curiosity about natural healing became even stronger.
I started paying closer attention to the herbs and spices around me.
Not just in the market… but even in my own kitchen.
One day, while speaking with an elderly woman in my community, she told me something that stayed with me.
She said,
"Before modern medicine became common, many homes already had their own small pharmacy in the kitchen."
She began mentioning simple things people used long ago.

Seeds for stomach problems.
Spices for infections.
Leaves for fever.
Roots for pain.
I was surprised.
Many of the things she mentioned were things we used every day…
but we never knew their healing value.
That conversation opened my eyes even more.
I realized that many of our grandparents understood natural healing deeply.
But over time, a lot of that knowledge began to disappear.
From that day, I became even more determined to learn.
Whenever I met older people who understood herbs, I listened carefully.
Whenever I heard about a seed or spice with health benefits, I wrote it down.
Slowly, my small notebook started filling up with natural remedies.
Different seeds.
Different herbs.
Different ways nature helps the body heal.
What started as curiosity…
was slowly becoming a mission.
A mission to understand the healing power hidden in seeds and spices.
And unknowingly…
I was already walking the path that would later become Cajo Natural Ventures.
But the next experience I had with a simple natural remedy…
showed me something powerful.
Something that made me believe even more that nature truly heals.

🌿 MY HERBALISM JOURNEY – PART 9

After that conversation with my sister…
I could not stop thinking about the black seed she told me about.
Everywhere I went… I started noticing seeds and spices differently.
What I once saw as just food ingredients…
I began to see as medicine from nature.
I started asking questions.
Reading.
Listening to elders who knew traditional remedies.
Little by little… I began learning how different seeds work in the body.
Some help the heart.
Some help digestion.
Some help fight infection.

And some help the body heal naturally.
The more I learned… the more amazed I became.
Nature was not empty.
It was full of healing gifts that many people had forgotten.
I started trying simple natural remedies in my home.
Slowly… I began to see changes.
That gave me hope.
Hope that my child could get better.
Hope that natural healing still had a place in our lives.
And from that moment…
I made a quiet promise to myself.
If these seeds and spices could help my family…
One day I would teach others about them too.
I didn’t know then that this small beginning…
Would grow into something bigger.
Something that would touch many lives.
Something that would become Cajo Natural Ventures.
But the journey was just beginning…
And the next lesson I learned about herbs

I sat there in the hospital…
Holding my baby so close to my chest.
My heart was heavy… my mind full of fear.
Then my sister came.
She looked at me and said softly,
“ Sister Joy… don’t lose hope.”
She held my hand and began telling me about black seed…
How it has been used for generations for healing.
She said something I will never forget.
"Black seed is small… but powerful. Many people don’t know what it can do."
At that moment, I was ready to try anything that could help my child.
That conversation…
That simple advice from my sister…
Was the beginning of my journey into herbs and natural healing.
I started learning about seeds…
Spices…
Natural remedies…
Little by little… my eyes began to open to a new world.
A world where nature carries powerful healing gifts.
And that was the day my herbalism journey truly began.
The journey that today has become Cajo Natural Ventures.
And the reason I am passionate about teaching people about seeds and spices.
Because sometimes…
The smallest seed can change a life.
