Additional tests that should be done annually:
Vitamin D Test: Vitamin D is essential for bone health, and low levels of vitamin D can increase the risk of osteoporosis. Women are especially prone to osteoporosis due to hormonal changes during menopause. A vitamin D test measures the levels of vitamin D in your blood and can help diagnose vitamin D deficiency.
Liver Function Tests: Liver function tests are a group of tests that evaluate how well your liver is functioning. The tests measure the levels of various enzymes, proteins, and bilirubin in your blood. Abnormal liver function test results can be a sign of liver disease, such as hepatitis or cirrhosis.
Kidney Function Tests: Kidney function tests evaluate how well your kidneys are functioning by measuring the levels of creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in your blood. High levels of creatinine and BUN can be a sign of kidney disease, which can lead to kidney failure if left untreated.
It’s important to note that these tests are not exhaustive, and your doctor may recommend other tests based on your medical history, symptoms, and risk factors. It’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional before undergoing any blood tests.
Special thanks to and who have educated me about the importance of ApoB through their podcasts - and am surprised that most cardiologists don’t ask for these tests even if you have CVD issues. They prescribe a normal Lipid profile
