The stark reality of Africa's healthcare challenge.

At the Impact Africa Summit 2024, Dr. Obidike Afam Ben, the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Anambra State, delivered powerful insights that reflected the state of the pharmaceutical industry on the continent.

Africa represents 19% of the world’s population and carries 25% of the global disease burden, yet produces less than 5% of the pharmaceutical products needed to address this crisis. This imbalance highlights a critical gap in our healthcare infrastructure.

Dr. Obidike asserted that “with these statistics, Nigeria is a country at risk if we cannot produce what we consume and need pharmaceutically.”
