💡 Learning is more than knowing facts!

A child may be able to think through the work, but if they’re not emotionally ready—confident, calm, and connected—they still need the classroom experience.

Every class builds not just knowledge, but resilience, social skills, and a love for learning.

SHAME DOES NOT DRIVE PROGRESS, MAYBE TEMPORAL PROGRESS.

Whenever I see parents and teachers shaming children because they don’t meet up with their personal or learning expectations I feel pain.

Growing up, I couldn’t read. No fault of mine but I faced shame within the walls of the school and outside.

Often, there was this competition between me and those that could read. While it lasted, I never read until I stepped away from their personal and learning expectations of me - I left the school.

Interestingly, they felt it was in my gene 😀😀 not to read.

I see many children facing this. They go back to the same teacher and environment that all they do is shame and pitch them against others. Instead of developing love for life and learning, they h@te themselves.

The more they get shamed, they will accept it as their reality and live with it.

I have seen children who have made 360 degree turn around by changing school (environment) but many schools and teachers don’t ask the right questions they just want to take the glory.

Remember, plants don’t grow in toxic environment except they were designed to survive in a toxic environment.

Until we start asking what is the nature of a child, what conditions are necessary for healthy development of human beings, what happens if this conditions aren’t met, we will keep chasing shadows.

Instead of “It makes me sad/angry when you don’t listen!”

Try “It’s hard for you to hear me sometimes, isn’t it? Is there anything I can do to help you with that? ”Empathy is not forced but taught by empathizing with your child.

Questions you should ask your child on their first day of school or first week of resumption.

What your child learn on the first day of school shouldn’t be your focus.

What should you focus on?

* Is my child excited, or happy?

* Does she want to run back to school tomorrow?

* Does she love the school, the teachers, her classmates?

* Has she made new friends?

* Check the lunch box if there is still food inside or not.

* Has the school contacted you yet to share  their experience with your child? Especially if it's her first time.

These are the kind of questions you should be asking.

They lay the foundation for meaningful learning.

What other questions do you ask your child on their first day at school?
