Lassa fever is spread mainly through contact with rats and contaminated food or surfaces. Keeping our environment clean and practicing good hygiene can save lives.

Store food in covered containers, keep your surroundings clean, and block holes where rats can enter. Avoid drying food in the open and never touch or eat rats. Always wash your hands with soap and water, especially before handling food.

If someone has persistent fever, weakness, vomiting, or bleeding, seek medical care immediately. Early treatment can prevent it.
