Mr. Ogunkanmi, a 44-year-old energy trader and father of three, met Cynthia Chia at a London nightclub in 2015. The pair spent a single night together at the Steam Bar in the Hilton Hotel, Paddington. After their encounter, he returned to Dubai, thinking the incident was behind him.

However, what followed was nearly nine years of emotional torment, hɑrassment , and defamation. Within months of their meeting, Ms. Chia began accusing him of various things, claiming he had slept....
