If you think wearing a mask to reduce/eliminate your chances of catching the COVID-19 virus is uncomfortable, being under a ventilator to keep alive is worse. Live responsibly. A word is enough for the wise.

The notion that women are solely responsible for infertility in a couple is a fallacy. Over 30% of cases are due to men’s problems. It is therefore expedient for men to present themselves for proper evaluation in order to forestall unnecessary delay in achieving conception. My two cents.

One of the leading causes of death following delivery is primary postpartum hemorrhage (vaginal bleeding within the first 24 hours of delivery) which ordinarily should not claim life in good hands. It is wisdom to register for Antenatal care in a good hospital.

Cancer of the cervix, the 3rd most common malignancy in women worldwide, which manifests as abnormal vaginal bleeding, vaginal discomfort, foul smelling vaginal discharge, is caused by Human Papillomavirus infection, a sexually transmitted infection. The good news is that it can be prevented by a vaccine in non-sexually active school girls. For the sexually active adult, the key to prevention is regular cervical screening. A stitch in time saves nine.

Vaginal bleeding after menopause may portend danger. Early presentation in the hospital is desirable and encouraged for good prognosis(outcome). Be wise.

Candidiasis, aka "toilet disease" in local parlance, manifests as itchy cheesy vaginal discharge. It is not only contacted from infected toilet and sexual partners but also via some habits like vaginal douching with medicated soap/water with antiseptic lotion, indiscriminate use of antibiotics, sharing of toiletries/underwears with infected individuals. Other predisposing factors are use of contraceptive pills, diabetes mellitus and pregnancy. Life style modification may be all that you require to be free for life from this embarrassing menace after the initial treatment. Live safe.

It is called a silent killer. Most cases are without symptoms. That persistent headache, blurred vision or dizziness may not be due to typhoid fever as erroneously believed. Many will get to know of it the day they suffer a stroke or kidney failure. It could affect all age groups but commonest in the middle aged and elderly. Unfortunately, most cases can't be cured but can easily be managed with drugs. Its name is HYPERTENSION. Have you checked your blood pressure (B.P) recently? Visit our hospital for a free check up. It's better to be safe than sorry.

If you have uterine fibroids as evidenced by abdominal swelling, excessive menstrual flow, recurrent miscarriages or infertility, as at today, there’s no medication (orthodox or unorthodox) that can make you to vomit it or pass it with your faeces. Do not be deceived. See a gynecologist. A word is enough for the wise

Every lady/woman has a usual and normal vaginal discharge. If your discharge becomes itchy and/or foul smelling, it becomes a problem. You need to visit a gynaecologist

She has had three mid-trimester miscarriages following the birth of her first daughter. She was even offered a cerclage in another hospital but to no avail. Her pastor introduced her to our hospital during her last pregnancy. A diagnosis of cervical incompetence was made and she was appropriately managed. To the glory of God, she is with her second child as you read this piece. If you have suffered a mid-trimester miscarriage in the past, all hope is not lost, please visit our hospital for that miraculous touch. It shall end in praise.

Studies have shown that about 30% of infertility cases are due to Male factors, 30% to female factors, another 30% to both Male and female factors while the remaining 10% of cases are of unknown causes. It is therefore advisable that investigation of infertile couples should involve both partners in order not to leave any stone unturned. My two cents especially to our men. It shall end in praise.
