How I sold rice as a new medical rep

So I recently started working as a medical rep for this company here in Nigeria and of course they gave me a car. We did our training where we were thought about how to be the perfect salesman man and all. I didn’t quite believe that the sales spirit was in me till during the Christmas when a funny incident happened.

I went to supply medicine to this pharmacist client and while we were discussing he mentioned that he bought large quantity of rice to sell in one of his shops (not pharmacy sha).

I casually asked him about the price for one bag and he said 32k. It didn’t ring any bell cos I have not bought rice in recent times. I live with my elder brother who sorts my feeding to the latter.

When I finalized my supply I moved to a second location where I still had some business to run with the pharmacy owner. As usual we started having conversations around other things asides medicines and that was when the issue of rice came up.

He complained that rice is now so expensive and that the least price he had seen to buy in recent times was 45k per bag. At this point I offered to get him rice at 38k per bag and he immediately agreed. Ladies and gentlemen that was how I went back to the previous location got 2 bags of rice at 32k each and sold at 38k each..... a profit margin of 12k😋

Well at this point my mind is telling me that rice business is also for me 🤷‍♂️, but anyhow it is sha I think I have unknowingly imbibed the salesperson spirit and I will do more even outside the profession this year.
