Africa: 422 Million People Live With Diabetes Globally

About 422 million people live with diabetes globally, the majority of them in low-and-middle-income countries. Studies conducted in Ghana estimate the prevalence of diabetes to be between 2.6% to 9%, Deputy Minister for Health, Madam Tina Mensah, has said.

Madam Mensah, who was speaking at the launch of 2022 World Diabetes Day in Accra on Monday on the theme, "Access to Diabetes Education," said Ghana has seen an increase in population growth with increasing life expectancy, rapid urbanization and adoption of a sedentary lifestyle over the past few decades.

She noted that the epidemiological transition has been associated with an increasing burden of non-communicable diseases including diabetes and its associated risk factors.
She said diabetes mellitus was a chronic metabolic disease, typically characterized by high blood sugar.

"If not controlled, diabetes causes serious damage to blood vessels, the heart, eyes, kidneys and nerves," she added.

Madam Mensah noted that the management of diabetes was provided at all levels of health care in Ghana, with the primary health care level providing preventive, screening and some treatment services.

The minister further said, Ghana through its National Health Policy and the Non-Communicable Disease policy prioritizes the awareness creation for prevention and control of diabetes, health system strengthening by building capacity for prevention, early detection and management of diabetes and provision of appropriate logistics.

On her part, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative, Dr Elizabeth Juma, said diabetes was the only major non-communicable disease for which the risk of dying early was increasing rather than decreasing.

She stated that the risk factor includes family history and increasing age, along with modifiable risk factor such as being overweight and obese, a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy diets, smoking and alcohol abuse.

Dr Juma indicated that without management and lifestyle changes, diabetes could lead to several devastating complications such as heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, lower limb amputation, visual impairment, blindness and nerve damage.

"WHO is committed to supporting the requisite training of health workers in the prevention and management of NCDs at district and community levels to improve the availability of services," she added.

World Diabetes Day, commemorated on the 14th of November each year, is intended to raise awareness of the growing burden of the disease, and strategies for its prevention and management of it in Ghana.

Diabetes is one of those diseases that completely changes one’s life. It leads to lifestyle modifications. And affects every aspect of what you do. In diabetes, the body is either deficit of insulin. Or the insulin it produces doesn’t work properly. There are different forms of diabetes. Type 1 and Type 2.

WHITE MULBERRY PLUS HELPS TO NORMALIZE HIGH BLOOD SUGAR.

18/07/2022

[ WHITE MULBERRY PLUS ]: New way to Balance High Blood Sugar and Avoid Diabetes Complications.

Do you have diabetes? Or do you know someone that has it?
It could probably be your mom, your uncle, or even the father of your dear friend.

I want to show you a special product [NEW] you can use to control the erratic figures you are getting each time you check your sugar level… Pay special attention especially if your fasting blood sugar is always above 122mg/dl.

In the struggle to control your sugar level, you are using metformin, daonil and all other sorts of medications for a long time, including the popular local “agbo”, yet no improvement.

In fact, the readings even go so high most of the time you go for a check-up.

It does not end there!!!

You have also tried to follow strict lifestyle modifications which prohibit you from eating your favorite meals and tasty snacks and drinks even when you attend occasions of your loved ones, but you are not still getting any results.

Your doctor and your pharmacist keep telling you to do this, don’t do that; eat this, don’t eat that.

You keep asking yourself, “is this how I am going to live for the rest of my life?’’

Well, this situation is exactly me and two of my best friends in 2020. But today, the story is a different one. For the past 17 months, my sugar level has not gone above 97mg/dl. And those of my friends have never crossed 103mg/dl.

What can you call this?

You can call it a miracle, grace, or even magic; whatever!!!.

But if you are truly ready to reduce your blood sugar and get it controlled all the time, you have two options!!!

Option 1 is to keep increasing the strength of the medication you are currently using. For example, from 500mg to 1000mg, to 2000mg until your body becomes insensitive to the drug and it stops working for you.
Or you keep adding different drugs to the one you are using until your organs can no longer carry them, then you switch to another set….

This option is not bad except for the life-threatening side effects the drugs pose to your beautiful life in the long run.

Option 2 is to use a 100% natural product that contains three very powerful ingredients that specifically target blood sugar reduction without side effects. These ingredients are formulated in one tablet. So you don’t need to take 3 or even 5 tablets to lower your sugar level. Just one tablet into your mouth and the job has started.

Products that have these unique features are very rare.

WhiteMulberry PLUS is my best choice. It works very well for me, for so many of my friends, and for over 4000 people living with diabetes. So I know it will work for you… GET IT AND USE IT.

WHAIT A MOMENT!!!
Before you get it. Let me first tell you exactly what WhiteMulberry Plus is and what it can do for you.

This innovative product contains Whitemulberry + Cinnamon + Chromium

CINNAMON: Cinnamon is loaded with powerful antioxidants that decrease oxidative stress which is the leading cause of increased sugar levels. When Cinnamon destroys oxidative stress, your sugar level goes back to normal.

After using Cinnamon consistently for a month, you will be shocked that you can snack and eat the foods you want without your sugar spiking.

WhiteMulberry: Rigorous scientific research has discovered that white mulberry reduces the blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes patients, effectively managing and controlling the disease.
white mulberry reduces the absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine, which has a positive effect on glycaemia (lowering of sugar levels).

CHROMIUM: Some studies have shown that chromium supplements may be helpful for people with diabetes and prediabetes. There is much evidence supporting the fact that chromium can lower blood glucose levels and improve the sensitivity of insulin in your body.

This combination is a time bomb that can help you normalize sugar levels.
This is the best gift you can get for yourself or your loved ones.

It’s time you start enjoying the life you had wished for. You can now eat your soft bread, take your favorite drinks and eat those delicious snacks you have been eyeing and wishing to eat if not for your condition.

No more fear of diabetic foot ulcer, diabetes-triggered blindness, muscle stiffness, and uncontrollable urination that wakes you up late in the night when others are deep in sleep dreaming about how they cruise on a sp*ed boat in Dubai.

The time has come to take back your healthy life with the help of this powerful WHITE MULBERRY PLUS.

Just one tablet a day and you are good to go.

If you get WHITE MULBERRY today, you will enjoy a 30% discount off the original price.

7 Common Causes of Rashes Near Your Va**na, According to Doctors
There are many different reasons why you might have irritation "down there."

Any time you notice something unusual about your va**na, it’s normal to feel worried —especially if it’s something unsightly and unpleasant, like a rash. It’s good to be concerned, and aware of what’s normal and what’s not with your body, but don’t panic. There are plenty of benign reasons that you might have a rash in the area around your va**na, and there are things you can do to get rid of the problem and help prevent it from occurring again.

“A va**nal rash can pop up on the outer portion of the v***a, in between or on the l***a minora (inner lips) and l***a majorum (outer lips), or even around the a**s,” says Susan S. Khalil, M.D., a gynecologist at Mount Sinai Hospital and assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. The rash may look reddish, feel painful, have a burning or itchy sensation or have no sensation at all, and it may also appear scaley or plaque-like, or be accompanied by bumps or patchy areas.

Even if a va**nal rash is caused by something as ordinary as using a new soap or wearing a new type of fabric underwear, it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor to be sure it’s nothing more serious that needs specific treatment to eradicate. “When it comes to va**nal health, it's important to pay attention to its color and consistency for signs of anything abnormal. If you start to experience any abnormalities or discomfort, such as itching, rashes, discharge or pain, it’s important to consult with a trusted healthcare provider,” says Jessica Shepherd, M.D., an ob-gyn, women’s health expert, and founder of Sanctum Wellness in Dallas, Texas.

common causes of a va**nal rash, plus what to do to find some relief.....

a. If it’s irritated or itchy, but you don’t have discharge, it could be contact dermatitis.

This is essentially your body’s adverse reaction to coming in contact with some sort of irritant. So just like your lips may become irritated after using a new type of chapstick or lipstick that doesn’t agree with you, the same thing can happen in your va**nal area when you wear scented pads, use a cleansing wipe, shave with shaving products like soap, body wash or shaving cream, or even use a new laundry detergent to wash your underwear. It can also arise if you sweat while wearing tight clothes, or try out a new type of lubricant during s*x. “Many substances can cause irritation of the va**na, from body fluids and sweat, to hygiene and personal care products,” says Dr. Shepherd.

Treatment: Try eliminating any products that are newer to your regimen to see if it helps your rash subside and stay away.

b. Recently shaved? That could be the culprit.

Your personal grooming preferences are your business, but if you do shave or touch up your bikini line and beyond, that could cause folliculitis, a type of skin irritation that may appear as a rash, be itchy and is frequently accompanied by pimple-like spots or bumps. And think about whether or not you’ve recently tried a new body wash, shaving cream or razor to facilitate a smoother shave — that could also cause skin irritation or a contact dermatitis rash.

Treatment: Removing bath and body products that you suspect may be irritating, swapping out your razor for a sharper or more efficient one, or quitting shaving altogether may help.

c. When discharge or a smell that you know isn’t normal accompanies a va**nal rash, it might be a bacterial infection.

Bacterial vaginosis is the most common va**nal condition to afflict women ages 15 to 44, and it happens when the bacterial makeup of your va**nal microbiome becomes disrupted and unbalanced. Besides a rash and itching, you may also notice a foul fishy smell, as well as gray, white or green discharge, and it sometimes burns when you p*e.

Treatment: This is one case where you're going to want to check with your doctor ASAP, who may provide antibiotics or a cream to treat symptoms.

d. An itchy, painful rash on the v***a that keeps coming back could be v***ar dermatoses.

“Vulvar dermatoses are a group of inflammatory skin conditions of the v***a, or the outside portion that’s external to the va**na,” explains Dr. Khalil. The rash or legions may also be accompanied by v***ar pain, depending on the specific condition causing it, and it’s most common in postmenopausal women, though younger women can also experience it.

Treatment: Your doctor can diagnose you and help you figure out which type of v***ar dermatoses you have, in order to get you the right treatment (which usually includes topical, oral or injectable steroids to alleviate inflammation and eliminate the rash).

e. If a rash appears after you’ve had unprotected s*x, you might have an STI.

A rash can be a symptom of certain s*xually transmitted infections (STIs), many of which cause you to develop other symptoms down the line, such as ulcers. Ge***al herpes and syphilis are common STIs that present this way, says Dr. Khalil, but other infections such as scabies or p***c lice can cause a rash or extreme itchiness without ulcers.

Treatment: It’s crucial to see your doctor in order to prevent it from worsening, and so you can get advice about how to avoid spreading it to others, as well as proper treatment.

f. A rash that’s accompanied by itching or burning inside your va**na may signal a yeast infection.

A yeast infection won’t always cause a rash, but sometimes it does, and it may also produce cottage cheese-like discharge. Even if a rash isn’t present, experiencing va**nal soreness or itching or burning inside the va**na while doing nothing, p*eing or having s*x are telltale yeast infection symptoms. It’s caused by an overgrowth of yeast, which may be triggered by using antibiotics, being pregnant, having low estrogen levels, poorly controlled diabetes, oral birth control and having a suppressed immune system.

Treatment: “If you’ve had a yeast infection in the past, you can use over-the-counter yeast infection products,” says Dr. Khalil, but it’s always a good idea to contact your doctor, especially if you’ve never had a yeast infection before, to be sure you’re using the right treatment that will knock out the fungal infection, and to get a proper diagnosis.

g. A scaly, plaque-like va**nal rash could be caused by psoriasis.

Systemic conditions like psoriasis sometimes cause a rash in the va**nal region, often characterized by a rash that looks particularly scaly or has dry raised plaque patches, says Dr. Khalil. Psoriasis rarely affects only the ge****ls, so you’ll likely already have encountered a similar-looking rash on other parts of your body — but up to two thirds of people with psoriasis will experience ge***al psoriasis, according to the National Psoriasis Foundation. Besides the va**nal region, the rash may also appear on your inner upper thighs, the p***c skin right above your va**na or around the buttocks or a**s.

Treatment: See a dermatologist, who can help devise the right psoriasis treatment plan for you.

What to know about treatment and prevention of va**nal rashes:

As long as a va**nal rash isn’t caused by something that needs treatment prescribed by your doctor, such as an STI or yeast infection, you can often prevent, tame or get rid of a va**nal rash on your own. One of the best strategies is a hands-off approach — that means avoiding topical relief products that could possibly make things worse, and instead keeping the area dry, clean and able to breathe in order to allow it time to clear up.

Assess your personal care routine and the products you use, and consider removing products or steps that seem to trigger irritation, such as swapping or ditching your razor, or steering clear of soaps, scented feminine products, lubricants, spermicides or detergents that make a rash pop up, says Dr. Shepherd. And if you’re prone to a va**nal rash, try to avoid wearing tight-fitting clothing, which may cause irritating friction, prevent air flow and trap moisture — all common causes of va**nal rash.

Va**nal Discharge Colors And What They Could Mean, According To Ob-Gyns

Va**nal discharge is part of the territory that comes with having a va**na. Odds are you don’t really pay attention to your va**nal discharge colors until you notice an unusual shade. Va**nal discharge is the fluid that comes from your va**na. It is composed of secretions from the cervix and va**na, bacteria, and mucus, says Loriana Soma, MD, Discharge isn’t just there for fun—it actually has a job to do. "It serves to clean the va**na and prevent infection,” says women’s health expert Jennifer Wider, So it’s totally normal to have va**nal discharge. Know that it can vary throughout your menstrual cycle. “During menstruation, there is minimal discharge,” Dr. Soma says. “It can then be brown—due to old blood—after the period finishes. The days after the period can have less discharge, and it may be sticky.

Clear

Clear va**nal discharge is usually what most people with a va**na experience at baseline, says Dr. Wider. So, if you’re having clear discharge, everything is probably in good working order down there.

Yellow

This is another one that falls into the category of “it depends.” “A slight yellow color can be normal,” says Dr. Soma, but thick yellow discharge may be a sign of infections like cervicitis (an infection of the cervix) or pelvic inflammatory disease, which affects the uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries. Other potential diagnoses in the mix: The STIs trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.Basically, if you notice thick yellow discharge that won’t quit and are experiencing other symptoms like a strong va**nal odor, itchiness, irritation, and pain during urination and/or s*x, you should talk to your doctor about next steps.

Gray

Gray discharge is a common presenting symptom of bacterial vaginosis (BV), per Dr. Soma, and it's “typically malodorous. ”Besides the annoyance, the overgrowth of the bacteria responsible for this discharge can lead to a worsening of STIs and women with BV when they get pregnant have a higher chance of preterm labor,” Dr. Minkin says. “So, it's good to treat BV, not only for its annoying discharge, but because of these potential problems.” Thankfully, it can usually be cleared up with antibiotics, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Pink

Pink discharge is usually due to “light bleeding” from your uterus or cervix, says Dr. Soma, adding that it “can be the start or end of a normal period.” But, if it happens after s*x, it can be a sign of cervicitis or cervical dysplasia, abnormal cervical cells that can be pre-cancerous or cervical cancer. "If the discharge seems blood-tinged, do check in with your provider,” Dr. Minkin suggests. It can also be a sign of an STI, she says, so you’ll want to get it checked out regardless if it’s not happening right before or after your period.

Green

That’s usually abnormal, says Dr. Wider, especially if you also experience a strong odor, inflammation, swelling, itchiness, and a burning sensation. Green discharge can be a sign of trichomoniasis, which tends to come with a stinky fish kind of scent, Dr. Minkin says. So…get it checked out. It can be treated with antibiotics, according to the Mayo Clinic.

White

White discharge can be normal—especially as you get closer to the time when your period is due—but it can also be a sign of an infection, like a yeast infection, says Mary Jane Minkin, MD, a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecologist and reproductive sciences at Yale Medical School. “Yeast infections usually present with a white, cottage-cheesy discharge and itching—usually on the v***a, which also can be red and irritated,” she says. If you have these symptoms, you can try to treat yourself with an anti-fungal miconazole cream, which you can buy at your local drugstore. But, if that doesn’t help, it’s time to check.
