This is the legal interpretation
Your Landlord is informing you that, your tenancy is a fixed term tenancy and it will last for only one year
So, you should know basically that you have only year to use in that apartment/shop/warehouse and if you wish to stay beyond one year, you must inform your Landlord at least one or two months before your rent expires, to know if your Landlord will agree to let you stay for another one year.
You don't inform your Landlord will mouth oo, you inform your Landlord by going with another one year payment.
If the landlord accepts the payment, your renewal of another one year fixed tenancy is active and the landlord can give you a new tenancy agreement to sign again or the landlord will add this clause below, in the forner tenancy agreement

If you sign it and agree to it
1. You have agreed basically to waive off your right to Notice to Quit.
Nothing like Notice to Quit for you again, once your rent exoires and the landlord does not want you again
What the Landlord will serve you is, SEVEN DAYS OWNERS INTENTION TO RECOVER PROPERTY
2. You must renew your tenancy before it expires, at least two months or one month before it expires
3. Because you agreed to a fixed term tenancy, your eviction through court process will be very fast because, you have nothing to defend or use against your landlord once your rent expires officially
Court no go delay to come pack your load out if your Landlord file for your eviction in court, if you refuse to leave.
