Glaucoma is often called “the silent thief of sight.”
It creeps in quietly, causing damage to the optic nerve — the part of your eye that sends images to your brain.
The scary part? You may not notice any symptoms until it’s too late.

Many people think clear vision means healthy eyes, but with glaucoma, you can see perfectly fine today and start losing side vision tomorrow — slowly and painlessly.
It usually begins by affecting your peripheral vision (the sides), and without regular eye checks, it can progress to complete blindness.

Anyone can develop glaucoma, but the risk increases if you’re:

1. Over 40 years old.

2. Have a family history of glaucoma.

3. Are diabetic or hypertensive.

4. Have experienced severe eye injury or prolonged use of steroids.

The only way to detect it early is through a Comprehensive Eye Examination — including an eye pressure test and CVF (Central Visual Field) test.
These help detect changes before vision loss begins.

1️⃣ Eat right — foods rich in vitamins A, C, E, omega-3, and zinc support vision.
2️⃣ Stay hydrated — dry eyes can make your vision blurry and uncomfortable.
3️⃣ Blink more — especially during long screen time.
4️⃣ Practice the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
5️⃣ Wear sunglasses — UV rays can damage the eyes over time.
6️⃣ Don’t rub your eyes — it can introduce germs or scratch your cornea.
7️⃣ Rest well — sleep helps your eyes recover from strain.
8️⃣ Keep your hands and contact lenses clean — hygiene protects against infection.
9️⃣ Be mindful of lighting — too dim or too bright can cause strain.
