SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT DATING
Dating can mean a lot of different things depending on who you ask. We have been on this dating series for several weeks now and if you have questions... This is the best time to ask either via our inbox or in the comments. We have answered some of the common questions we got here and some more are in the comments.
1. Is It Ok For A Girl To Ask A Guy Out?
Before now, it may seems wrong for a lady to be the first to ask a guy out... But times are changing... If they have not changed completely... More ladies are "shooting their shoot" as this is the new code for ladies asking a guy out first .. and honestly it's yielding good result for some!
But if you still prefer the foundational process of a guy you sincerely like to ask you out first, you can at least create an enabling atmosphere for such to happen, either by making getting close to him or asking some indirect questions
2. Is It Ok To Date Someone If I Have No Desire To Get Married?
Why dress up for a party you are not going to attend? Why create needless hope in another person if you do not wish to fulfil their desires? This is a big no for us!!! You don't go out there leading someone on only to push them away. And yes, not all dates will get to the final stage of marriage, yet, it's best you wish for the best.
Dating has one very important characteristic: INTENTION. When the two of you agree to date, you both may not be sure of where it will lead, but you shouldn't start if you already do not plan for the best... Dating someone for fun, and they’re dating you with the intention of marriage, then you’re on two different playing fields — and that will do more harm than good. Unless you are both having the fun... Again it's all about intentions! Clearly stated intention by both parties!!!
3. How Far Is Too Far When Dating?
Having the ‘boundaries talk’ on a first date might be a bit unnecessary, but it needs to happen sooner rather than later.
We all have our "no go areas" while dating, so its best you decide how far you want to go while still dating... What we usually advice, is "don't do the things that are meant for relationship and marriage while dating... Is a word not enough for the wise? But if you are still asking, if is it OK to hold hands or kiss? What’s too much before the wedding night?
If you’re asking where the boundary line is, take a moment to evaluate your motives. If you’re trying to find out how far you can go without sinning, your focus is in the wrong place. The person you’re dating — and the person you eventually marry — should be the No. 1 person encouraging you in your relationship with God. A Godly man or woman will encourage you to go farther spiritually, not physically.
So we usually say
Do not have s*x while dating.
Do not make monetary commitment
Do not go visiting family of a date.
Do not go to their house unannounced
Do not make unrealistic promises.
The list is endless, you can add yours!
4. When is flirting OK?
Flirting indicates the desire to have a deeper relationship with another person. Flirting, in and of itself, can be harmless. But if you don’t have an interest in dating the person you are flirting with, Stop! You need not lead them on. Don't make empty promises or be emotionally manipulative. So if you’re not interested in the person you’re flirting with, stop flirting.
5. Should I Go Out With Someone If I'm Not Attracted To Them?
Looks fade, but character lasts! Before saying yes or no, think about the reasons for going on a date: to get to know someone better or to see if there’s chemistry. If there’s no way you can ever see the relationship moving forward, don’t lead them on. But you also don’t have to say no just because you’re not immediately hot and bothered.
If your potential date is serious and several trusted friends can vouch for their character, why not give them a chance to get to know you? Examine your motives for refusing to get to know the person. Would you be leading the person on or are you being selfish? Do you have a bad feeling about allowing this person into your life or are you scared it won’t work out?
