3 weeks ago, I had the privilege of speaking at a Seminar organized by NIMELSSA on Academic excellence, Entrepreneurship and thriving generally in medical school.

It was truly rewarding to see students engage so deeply in the conversation, asking thoughtful and challenging questions about topics that really matter. I’m grateful I could provide insights and answers that were helpful and meaningful to their journey.

A big thank you to for the invitation and for creating an avenue where students can actually learn from practical stories and grow🙏

From this experience, I realized that many students still lack practical guidance on how to navigate business and thrive academically in medical school. It’s a gap I hope to continue addressing by being part of similar events in the future, sharing insights and my personal experience. Cheers to growth🥂

Medical school is tough...and even tougher when you’re building a business alongside it.

I started Achilles Drill during my undergraduate years with one goal in mind: to make the academic journey I struggled through much easier for those coming after me. What began as a passion project has now grown into one of Nigeria’s largest communities of medical students. The journey hasn’t been rosy, but I’m grateful to God for how far I’ve come.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my story...the wins, the mistakes, the sacrifices, and the lessons I’ve gathered along the way.

If you’re a student, you’ll likely pick up strategies that made my study process more effective. And if you’re a startup founder, there’s even more for you to learn from my growth and missteps. If I could turn back time, I’m certain I’d do things differently and maybe better.

Studying hard is not the same as studying smart… and sadly, most students only realize this after seeing their results.

Just one look at past questions before stepping into the exam hall can be the single factor that turns a C-grade student into an A-grade student. PQs are as important as reading itself. Don't joke with it

There’s a reason some students remember the things the read easier, revise faster, and even perform perform. It’s not magic, it’s about method.

Of all study methods you've heard about, never underestimate spaced repetition. It's the only way to readily remember the things you read.

That’s how Job Emmanuel describes life in medical school. But he also knows why he can’t stop trying.

In all you do as a student, always remember: “You’re a student first.”
Before anything else, you’re first a student. So, prioritize your stay in school above everything else.

Put your studies ahead of student politics, social activities, and even leadership roles in your church or mosque. If you lose your studentship, you automatically forfeit every position you currently hold.

So, put your studies first! 🎓
