The real question is on the last slide… WHY?

A twisted world, if women speaking up about natural experiences makes you uncomfortable. By destroying the culture of silence and speaking up, more women are learning more about their bodies and taking charge of their health.

By speaking up, women are advocating for and shaping health friendly policies to improve their lives and those of generations to come.

By speaking up women are learning that it’s ok not to suffer in silence over treatable conditions. They are learning pain isn’t normal. They are learning what home remedies can help alleviate their discomfort or pain. They are learning when it is time to see a Doctor. They are learning how to track their fertility. They are learning how to care for themselves during these periods. Unlike silence that shames one and allows girls assume or make it up as they go. The culture that hands down myths or nothing at all.

They are learning that it’s not just a period, but it’s their health.

Every month, a woman is expected to bleed whether she wants to or not. It is non negotiable. Its presence, absence, flow, quantity, quality, pain, discomfort, is very telling of one’s health at every given point. Yet she is expected to keep mute about it.

How would we know, how would we grow, if others didn’t share. Dear women, keep sharing your stories and experiences. If it makes them uncomfortable, they can scroll up, skip or mute.

Always remember, it’s not just your period, it’s your health.

Missed or delayed period? It can be anything, but if you’re sexually active, just p*e on the stick first. T for tenks.

Had the pleasure of being hosted by the US Consular General, William B. Stevens to an exclusive dinner for our reunion and induction as 2023 Nigerian .

In his words, “We don’t need African solutions for African problems, we need African solutions for global problems”. I have had the pleasure of interacting with these great minds and I can bet on one thing, we are creating GLOBAL SOLUTIONS.

As the new Publicity secretary of Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria, I look forward to working with our Exco to initiate discussions aimed at advancing the existing relationship between the U.S. Mission Nigeria and our fellows to scale the impact of their projects.

In the past year, I have met amazing individuals who have become friends and family. I’ll miss them, but the beauty of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, is the fact that we are all in our corners. I’m so proud of the work and impact they are making in their communities, Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

Grateful to God for how lines keep falling in pleasant places for me. I don’t take this opportunities for granted.

Yours in health,

“Dr Zobo, how do you do it?”
For 4 years, while serving as coach and mentor for Babcock University Medical students, I have answered this question… gladly. I feel fulfilled seeing the students, now doctors, go on to succeed in their chosen medical career paths.

As a beneficiary of good mentorship, I find it an honour each time I get to pay it forward.

Today, we’ll be discussing “Finding balance as a medical professional”.

Here is the tough truth about studying medicine…
“There is no “easy” phase. It never stops taking, your time, resources, energy.”

Good news, you can make it work for YOU.”

I’ll be sharing how I’ve made it work so far, with today.

Babcock University, are you ready?😃
