We are proud to announce the successful Left Bundle Branch Pacing (LBBP) Procedure performed at our Victoria Island, Ligali Cardiovascular Centre — a first-of-its-kind milestone in advancing cardiac care in Nigeria.

Led by Dr. Emmanuel Edafe (Interventional Cardiologist, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital) and Professor Uvie Onakpoya (Cardiothoracic Surgeon), one of the procedures was carried out on an 80-year-old patient with symptomatic bradycardia from complete heart block.

Unlike traditional pacing methods, LBBP offers superior outcomes including:

✅ Narrower QRS complexes on ECG
✅ Reduced risk of complications
✅ Improved long-term quality of life

With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Professor Oyinade Elebute, she was a Professor of Physiology at College of Medicine, University of Lagos and co-Founder of Hygeia Nigeria Ltd, Lagoon Hospitals, and Hygeia HMO Ltd; who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13th 2025 aged 91.

Prof. Oyinade Elebute was a visionary pioneer whose courage, compassion, and insistence on excellence helped redefine private healthcare in Nigeria. The standards she championed, the teams she nurtured, and the institutions she helped build continue to touch lives every day. Her life’s work is woven into the fabric of Lagoon Hospitals and remains a living testament to what dedication and faith can accomplish.

Today, we do not mourn without hope; we give thanks for a fulfilled life, a radiant legacy, and the countless patients, professionals, and families uplifted by her vision. We honour her by pressing forward, serving with empathy, integrity, and excellence, on the strong foundation she laid.

Our prayers and warmest thoughts are with her family and the many communities she inspired. May her beautiful legacy continue to shine.
