September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness, supporting children and families affected, and funding research for better treatments and cures. The gold ribbon is the international symbol for childhood cancer. Gold represents strength, courage, and the preciousness of children.

Childhood cancers are a group of diseases where abnormal cells grow uncontrollably in children (usually under 15–18 years). They are different from adult cancers in terms of types, behavior, and treatment response.

Common Types of Childhood Cancer

Leukemia
• Cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
• Most common type in children.
• Symptoms: frequent infections, fatigue, easy bruising/bleeding.

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors
• Can occur in the brain or spinal cord.
• Symptoms: headaches, vision problems, balance or coordination issues.

Neuroblastoma
• Develops from immature nerve cells, often in the adrenal glands.
• Symptoms: abdominal swelling, bone pain, lumps under the skin.

Wilms Tumor
• Kidney cancer, usually in children aged 3–4.
• Symptoms: abdominal mass/swelling, fever, blood in urine.

How much caffeine is “too much” depends on factors like age, body weight, tolerance, health conditions, and even genetics.

The FDA estimates toxic effects, like seizures, can be observed with rapid consumption of around 1,200 milligrams of caffeine, or less than 1/2 teaspoon of pure caffeine. Pure and highly concentrated caffeine products can have serious health consequences.
