While most people associate diabetes with blood sugar control, fewer realize its silent impact on eye health. One of the leading causes of vision loss and blindness globally is diabetic retinopathy. It is a condition that damages the blood vessels in the retina due to prolonged high blood sugar levels.

At Peak Eye Care , we regularly see patients who didn’t know that their blurry vision, floaters, or sudden vision loss were symptoms of undiagnosed or poorly managed diabetes.

Here’s what you should know:

-Diabetes can cause diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts.
- Many of these conditions are silent at first, but lead to permanent vision damage if untreated.
- Early detection through routine eye exams can save your sight.

If you are diabetic, regular eye checks aren’t optional, they’re essential.

We recommend a comprehensive eye exam at least once a year, especially for individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Your eyes are not just windows to the soul, they’re mirrors of your health. You should protect them.
