A ONE-DAY ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILL ACQUISITION WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS OF SELECTED SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN LAGOS STATE.
The Younis Olatunji Basorun Education Foundation (YOBEF) organized and sponsored “A One-Day Entrepreneurial Skill Acquisition Workshop for Teachers of Selected Secondary Schools in Lagos State” on Wednesday the 21st of August, 2019. The venue was at Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo, Lagos
The Skill Acquisition Workshop covered the following entrepreneurial areas viz:
1. Textile Design
2. Painting and Card Making
3. Interior Design and Decoration
4. Turban and Fascinator
5. Agriculture and Food Supply
The above-listed areas were handled by qualified professionals. For example, Dr. Y.O. Basorun a member of BOT of YOBEF, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service and a big-time livestock farmer handled Agriculture and Food Supply. Also was Dr. Akinwale Onipede of the Department of Creative Arts, University of Lagos Akoka who handled Painting & Card Making.
Earlier, in his keynote Address, Chief Abayomi Aiyepola, Chairman BOT of YOBEF pointed out that one of the objectives of the foundation is to train and re-train the teachers in order to get the best out of the learners. Also, that the skill acquisition Workshop was designed to train teachers who will in turn train other teachers in their various schools and communities that will finally impact on the students in order to reduce the problem of unemployment among school leavers.
At the end of the programme, the participants were very grateful to YOBEF for organising the workshop. They were of the view that the problem of looking for White-Collar jobs among the youths will reduce if this type of workshop is organized from time to time.
