A Tribute to the King of Inspirational Talks- Ubong King: 5 Years On.

Five years have passed since Ubong King went home to glory, yet some voices do not fade with time; they deepen. His words still find people at the edge of doubt and push them back into purpose. His values still confront our excuses. His vision still calls a generation higher.

Ubong King was never just a speaker. He was a stirrer. A builder of minds. A challenger of mediocrity. He carried a rare gift: the ability to make you see more, demand more, and become more, without apology. He didn’t merely inspire emotions; he provoked transformation. He reminded us that excellence is not a personality trait, it is a decision. That discipline is not punishment, it is destiny. That integrity is not negotiable, no matter how “normal” compromise becomes.

And though he is no longer here in person, his legacy still speaks- quietly, loudly, daily- through lives he shaped, dreams he awakened, and the bold pursuit of significance over comfort. You hear him in the courage of young people who dared to start. You see him in leaders who chose character over shortcuts. You feel him in every heart that refuses to settle for average because he once said, “Think again. Rise again. Do it right.”

Today, we do more than remember Ubong King. We honour him the only way true legacies can be honoured: by living what they stood for. By refusing to shrink. By choosing the hard road of values. By continuing to build, especially when it would be easier to quit.

Five years on, the King still reigns in impact.
His voice still echoes.
His seeds still grow.
His legacy lives on.

Here are some essential defensive driving tips:

1. Stay Focused & Avoid Distractions
- Keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
- Avoid using your phone, eating, or adjusting controls while driving.
- Be mindful of passengers, but don’t let them distract you.

2. Maintain a Safe Following Distance
- Follow the "3-second rule" (increase to 4+ seconds in bad weather).
- Keep extra space behind large vehicles (trucks, buses) to see ahead.

3. Scan the Road Ahead & Check Mirrors
- Look 12–15 seconds ahead to spot hazards early.
- Check rearview and side mirrors every 5–8 seconds.
- Watch for erratic drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

4. Adjust for Weather & Road Conditions
- Slow down in rain, snow, fog, or ice.
- Increase following distance and avoid sudden moves.
- Use headlights in low visibility.

5. Be Predictable & Signal Early
- Use turn signals well in advance before turning or changing lanes.
- Avoid sudden braking or swerving signal and brake smoothly.

6. Watch for Blind Spots
- Always check over your shoulder before changing lanes.
- Be aware of other drivers' blind spots, especially near trucks.

7. Yield Right of Way
- Don’t assume others will follow traffic rules—be cautious at intersections.
- Let aggressive drivers pass; it’s not worth a confrontation.

8. Avoid Fatigue & Impaired Driving
- Don’t drive drowsy—take breaks every 2 hours on long trips.
- Never drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications that impair focus.

9. Expect the Unexpected
- Be ready for sudden stops, red-light runners, or kids darting into the street.
- Have an escape route in case you need to avoid a collision.

10. Keep Your Vehicle Maintained
- Regularly check tires, brakes, lights, and fluids.
- Ensure windshield wipers and defrosters work properly.

By practicing defensive driving, you reduce risks and protect yourself and others on the road.
