Ever notice how worry has this sneaky way of hijacking your entire day?

You start thinking about one little thing that might go wrong, and before you know it, your brain has written a full disaster movie script.

Here's what's happening: your mind is doing exactly what it's designed to do - trying to keep you safe by imagining every possible threat.

The problem is, most of these threats aren't real. They're just your mind playing old movies from the past or creating scary stories about the future.

But here's the good news - you can interrupt this pattern using a simple self-hypnosis technique.

The "Reset" Technique:

Next time you catch yourself spiraling into worry, try this:

Stop and breathe deeply - Take 3 slow, deep breaths through your nose

Look up - Literally look up toward the ceiling while keeping your eyes open. This naturally shifts your brain into a more relaxed state

Ask yourself: "Is this thought helping me solve something right now, or is it just making me feel worse?"

If it's not helpful, simply acknowledge it: "This is just my mind trying to protect me, but I don't need this worry right now."

Replace it with something concrete: "What's one small thing I can actually do about this situation today?"

The magic isn't in the technique itself - it's in the fact that you're taking conscious control of your mind instead of letting it run wild.

Remember: you're not trying to never worry again (that's impossible). You're just practicing being the director of your own mental movie instead of a helpless audience member.

Try this today and notice how it feels to have that power back.

Subsequently, I'll share how to use your mind's natural programming to overcome that frustrating feeling of being "stuck" or unmotivated.

Remember, this does not replace prayers.

THRONEROOM DEVOTIONAL

THE ATTITUDE OF A BELIEVER

Are you still thankful for the amazing grace of God in your life?

May 21, 2025

1 Corinthians 15:9-11

The apostle Paul had a certain mindset that Christians would be wise to emulate (1 Cor. 11:1). In him, we see an attitude of ...

Humility. Pride cannot hide in the heart of a believer who understands divine mercy. Paul believed the grace that was sufficient to save a sinner like him was adequate for anyone.

Indebtedness. The apostle never lost sight of how far the Father’s grace had brought him. Paul frequently reminded followers of his role in persecuting the church (1 Tim. 1:13), and his gratitude for salvation never waned.

Dependence. To describe the source of his strength, Paul said: “By the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Cor. 15:10). He knew what it was like to depend upon one’s own goodness and work to be religious and he wanted no part of it. Paul desired more of Jesus Christ and less of himself (Phil. 3:8).

Conviction. At the end of his life, Paul was as confident that God was worthy of all honor, glory, and praise as he was right after his initial encounter with Jesus. (2 Tim. 4:6-8).

Do you see these attitudes in yourself? Praise God for all He’s done for you and allow His grace to be poured out on your life in ever-greater ways.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to live my life in accordance to the will of God thereby glorifying Him alone. Amen
