September has been a journey. This month, we’ve come together to talk about mental health in ways that truly matter. We’ve discussed su***de and its impact, spoken at events, hosted Instagram Lives, and even taken our message to radio stations to reach more hearts. Along the way, I’ve also made time for self-care, because taking care of ourselves is just as important as caring for others. This month has been a reminder that every conversation, every action, counts. Let’s keep breaking the silence and supporting each other—because we’re never alone in this.Welcome to October, let the journey begin

As we say goodbye to this amazing month, it's important to reflect on the conversations we've had, the awareness we've spread, and the lives we've touched. This month has been a powerful reminder that mental health matters, and that no one should have to struggle in silence. We've opened up dialogues about the realities of mental health, emphasizing the importance of support, understanding, and compassion. While the month may be ending, our commitment to preventing su***de and supporting those in need continues. Each of us can play a role in building a world where no one feels like they're a burden, where reaching out for help is seen as a strength, and where we lift each other up during the darkest moments. Let us carry the lessons learned and the empathy gained throughout the year. If you or someone you know is struggling, remember that there is hope, and help is always available. You are not alone.Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey, from those who shared their stories to those who listened with open hearts. Together, we can continue to make a difference. ***deprevention

This past week, I had the honor of being invited as a panelist to an event by Mentallyawareng themed “Changing the Narrative on Suicidal Thoughts and Mental Health Concerns.” It was a powerful moment—a room filled with raw, honest conversations about the reality of su***de and mental health struggles. We weren’t just speaking to statistics; we were speaking to lives, to the weight of silence so many carry in isolation. In a country where attempted su***de is criminalized and mental health is heavily stigmatized, we can no longer afford to stay silent. We need conversations like this now more than ever—creating safe spaces where people can openly talk about their struggles and finally receive the understanding, compassion, and education they deserveAs a mental health therapist, I see it firsthand—how silence suffocates hope, how stigma stops people from seeking help. That’s why events like this are not just important; they are absolutely necessary. They remind us of the work we still need to do—to make sure that no one ever feels like their only option is to suffer in silence. We need more spaces like this, more conversations that challenge the stigma, more opportunities to educate and listen. Su***de is preventable, and mental health is something we all must care for, but it starts with us creating environments where people can feel safe, supported, and understood. This is how we change the narrative. This is how we save lives—by showing up, by speaking up, and by reminding each other that there’s always hope, even in the darkest moments. Let’s continue this work everywhere we go, until mental health is as valued and understood as physical health, and no one feels alone in their pain. Video Shot and Edited by

Section 327 of the Criminal Code Act CAP C38 LFN 2004 states that anyone who attempts to kill themselves is guilty of a misdemeanor and could be imprisoned for up to one year. This law, rooted in old beliefs that saw su***de as a crime against the state or society, raises many questions about how we treat mental health today.

Instead of offering compassion and support to someone in deep pain, this law adds more suffering by criminalizing their actions. It’s essential to ask: should people battling with such intense emotions be punished or be offered help? This law reflects a need for our society to rethink how we view and respond to mental health crises.

During the Instagram Live, we’ll delve into the “how,” “why,” and “what” behind this law—how it impacts those struggling, why it exists, and what changes are needed to support rather than punish those in need.

Understanding your emotions is essential because emotions themselves aren’t the problem—it’s your response to them that truly matters. Every emotion you feel is valid; they are part of what makes you human. However, what defines your experience isn’t the emotions themselves but how you choose to respond to them. Emotions are powerful, but they are not your enemy—they are signals that guide you. The real challenge lies in your reaction. When you learn to respond with intention and self-awareness, you gain control over your life and create healthier outcomes. It’s not the emotions that define you, but the way you respond to them.

One of the most profound lessons l've learned from both being a therapist and experiencing therapy myself is that true healing starts with self-acceptance.
Therapy allows you to confront your deepest pains, to understand and forgive yourself, and to let go of the burdens you've carried for so long.
It's a journey of learning to love yourself, flaws and all, and finding the inner strength to move forward with compassion and grace. Through therapy, you discover that you are worthy of forgiveness and capable of profound transformation.
