4 things to stop doing right now if you truly want to sound more British with the RP accent
Most people ignore the last one, and it holds them back for years.

1. Stop rushing your words
If you speak too fast, you lose clarity. Received Pronunciation requires calm, clear, and deliberate speech. Slow down so every sound gets the attention it deserves.

2. Stop using flat or random intonation
RP is not just about the sounds you make. It’s also about melody. If you speak with a flat tone, you’ll sound stiff and unnatural. Learn to rise and fall naturally when you speak.

3. Stop copying every British voice you hear online
Not all British accents are the same. Focus on authentic RP from trusted sources. Don’t confuse Cockney, Estuary, or Northern accents with the elegance of RP.

4. Stop reading and pronouncing words the way they are spelled
This is the trap that kills fluency. English is full of silent letters, weak vowels, and connected speech. If you say every word the way it looks, your speech will always sound off.
